Watched the rest yesterday. Favorite quote: "Um, there isn't much that rhymes with infrastructure."

I know my own heart and understand my fellow man. But I am made unlike anyone I have ever met. I dare to say I am like no one in the whole world. - Anne Lister

Any Nurse Jackie watchers? We just finished S2 and are kind of... underwhelmed. Why was there absolutely no fallout from the end of S1? They started out as if nothing had happened. What a rip off! Then it seemed like S2 was basically exactly the same as S1. The last few eps of S2 were good - she finally got busted. But I feel like they are going to have S3 be the same old thing as the previous 2. Will they find out she's not really clean? How is that so different from , "Will they find out she's an addict? I love Edie Falco and enjoy a lot of the characters on NJ (Zoe, O'Hara, Akalitis), so will probably watch S3, but again, kind of underwhelmed.

"And to be clear, I am the hell. And the high water."

I agree 100%. I'm entertained by the show, but I need the show and consequences to progress a bit better.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

Yay, erika! You got the disc. I have a lot of thoughts on the show, but none very coherent. I'm torn about twelve different ways on what happened with John Goodman's character. And while they didn't make him lovable, I did like what they did with Davis. He still needs a mega-dose of self awareness, but he's definitely got some nice qualities to him.

Very torn about Davis. I kind of love him and kind of think he's a spoiled idiot. I'm not sure whether I'd offer him a kiss or a smack in the face. But just about the time you write him off, he does something decent. I related to the Goodman character today, though. I think I wrote some pages that were shit, today, myself. But I didn't delete them because sometimes that's totally a mood thing(and am I total whore if I had somebody come to me and say "Erika, write me, say, an SB 1070 book." I'd say "Awesome...how long do you want it?" But I'm a newb and he has a proven track record, I suppose. Or maybe I really am a giant whore, and therefore deserve to do writer-busking, or perhaps a titillating memoir of my awakening entitled Fucking and Punching for the rest of my life.)

Funny thing is, I think Davis knows he's spoiled (his scenes with his family were great), he just is a tad unaware of what an idiot he is. Goodman's character, on the other hand, didn't suffer any of the serious effects of the storm first hand, but let them eat him up inside. I thought they made an interesting contrast on people who were privileged enough to escape, but still felt the after-effects.

Maybe "hipster doofus" instead of full-on idiot. He's going to be one hell of a guy if he can put some of that passion somewhere constructive. He's got a good heart, it seems like, but he's...a little old for "freaking the straights" to be his biggest goal on the planet.(Although I like him because he's good at it.) Goodman has survivor's guilt....that's not all, of course, but it is some of it.(I have it, too, about vastly different things, but I recognize it.)

"Oh no! Has falling sky liquid once again caused you the sadness?" -Starfire

Davis annoyed me so much in the beginning, but I mostly like him now. I think the change occurred once he started getting along with his gay neighbors.

The John Goodman storyline broke my heart. I was watching it through my fingers and said to my boyfriend "I really, really don't think I like where this is going." And then it went there.

LOVE the Chief! All the Indian stuff just fascinated me because I was never even aware that culture existed in N.O.

And so many funerals throughout the show. Which I was suppose was realistic, but very depressing.

I'm completely shocked that there were no major Emmy nominations for this show.

I'm not. Emmy hates my fake husband. Uppity bitch. (why would anyone recognize Khandi Alexander or Melissa Leo when Mariska is out there making that collagen quiver every week for ten years...that's the real question.)

Yeah, that's about the time I started thinking better about his character too. Steve Zahn's been great all along, and I'm glad they haven't made the character 100% redeemed, but they definitely showed he has potential. I was kind of wondering if that was where they were going with the whole election thing, since he's such a cheerleader for his town.
