I'm worried about the street musician couple because of what happened to the people Bob thinks they may be based on
There's been a lot of discussion about this elsewhere on the Interwebs. I really hope that this isn't the way they go. But they might. I've been a little worried that they might work the filmmaker Helen Hill's story into Melissa Leo's character. But I'm willing to let Simon & co work these out the way they see fit.
I'm a bit worried for John Goodman's character both based on who he's inspired by (don't remember the name, but I saw it mentioned in a writeup on Treme/Simon) and the fact that he's not in the main credits, only the end ones.
I'm so stoked that ML is in this...I know that Simon said(anyone else picturing a really fucked-up kids game, here..."reach for the sky, motherfucker...you didn't say "Simon said,") he enjoyed working with her very much and did not find her difficult, but at the time I thought maybe his standards for difficult weren't like others')
It must be true, though. he asked her back.

Don't know anything about Melissa Leo personally vis-a-vis difficulty.
I don't either.
I just like her work a lot.
I do recall hearing some stuff about her being difficult...where all values of difficult equal, serious about her craft. But these stories also came out at the same time she was in ugly, ugly battle with John Heard over their child. So, yeah. Take that for what it is worth.
I read somewhere that Heard called her on the set of Homicide like fifty times a day.
That'd make me...difficult, too.
I think in that situation I'd have given them fodder for a "ripped from the headlines" casefile.
Seriously. He was one of the first people to be labeled a 'stalker'...looking in her windows at all hours, going through her trash, public screaming fits, making stuff up to try and wrench their child from her and telling someone, who ratted to the Enquirer (so take THAT for what it's worth) that he didn't really want custody, since he was so famous and busy, but wouldn't let her have it...really crazy stuff.
All this came on the heels of Altered States, a set, on which. he was so horrible to his co-stars that the film nearly didn't get made.
It bothers me that I like his performance in the mini-series of Dune (which was on cable, so...TOPIC!) because I would happily just ignore him otherwise.
t /shameless gossip, who really should think less about such things.
