I'm still pissed at Albrecht about the 250 thing...the premiere brought 1,000,000 people. That the way they count in New York? Of course, not everyone will stick with it maybe...but still, dismissive much?

Eh, I don't care as long as The Wire isn't dying the sad death of Deadwood. Any thoughts on last night's episode?

Punishingly Intricate

Any thoughts on last night's episode?

It's so real this season it's almost too much to take. I had to keep reminding myself that Prez is just a character. I knew his first day would go like that. I wonder how he thought it would go?

And those kids...I see them EVERY day as I drive to work. Plus with the election stuff. it's just too much like life. Not that i'm going to stop watching.

I loved all the Randy stuff. with the shirts and the "HI! I'm Randy!" And I loved that Omar's new boy was reading a Pelacanos book. hah! I loved all the Omar stuff of course.

Written by Richard Price, too!

Even thought the humor's a bit cartoonish for The Wire, I especially loved the Omar bit before the credits. And yeah, Prez is in real trouble. I love how they caught this expression on his face that said, "why is this harder than being a cop?"

The kids, geez, that stuff's just going to keep breaking my heart.

GF and I are 4 eps into Deadwood S1. We're feeling it! Favorite curse so far: Fucknut. Bwahahahahahaha!

Hey, Gloomcookie, glad you're digging it!

Y'know, I always think of you when my iPod serves up the Geraldine Fibbers. In my mind's eye, you look just like Carla Bozulich. Hopefully, your GF doesn't look too much like Nels Cline.

Hahahahahaha! I laugh on both counts. Here's what we look like: [link]

I'm the one on the left, sipping the sweet sweet rum drink. This was at a tiki bar the night we saw Throwing Muses (AWESOME!) for like the millionth time.

Yeah, last week Pres had this look like "Last year, I helped bring down a drug ring...this year I'm a custodian, picking gum off the seats. FG." But then, his FIL always did treat him like that. It's funny when they show Omar fighting with somebody about Cheerios...most shows wouldn't, right? ETA: I'm already wanting to bail out Pres, but right, like Baltimore City needs Wire-obsessed, clueless white folks. I also remembered the time D'Angelo helped a little girl with her math using a corner example and then she got it. I think I'd have to hold my nose and vote for Carcetti, even though I honestly don't like him very much.

I wish I could do this.

GC: aw, cute! This is an entrenched mental image, though. Even though I know what you look like now, I'm probably going to still see Carla when you come to mind.

most shows wouldn't, right?

Probably not. That Omar stuff, down to the pajamas & gun and bitching at your significant other about something (and yet another garbled Wild Bunch quote), was really great.

I'm already wanting to bail out Pres

If he's really a stand-in for Ed Burns, he has 9 more years on the job to go.

I think I'd have to hold my nose and vote for Carcetti, even though I honestly don't like him very much.

Oh, he's an ass, but he's an ass for the right reasons.
