What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I totally forgot that I was actually vaguely spoiled about that because of something Plei said in a post. I've been mainlining all weekend to get through the series.

And then there was all that tense music and everyone was running around with guns and Trixie shot Hearst and I didn't know who else was going to get it. Hearst better get murderized soon, the dirty bastard.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

WHAT THE FUCK ELLSWORTH NOOOOO.

Yeah, that pretty much summed up Deadwood nation's reaction. Poor noble bastard.

And I just finished. I think I liked the third season more than the second since it had a very obvious villain, and I liked how that caused everyone to band together against him. Even Tolliver, by the end, seemed to want to shoot the bastard, but then Hearst just rode off, basically having won Deadwood.

Wait, I didn't even think about that until just now. Hearst WON. His plan WORKED. What the hell. I know there was supposed to be another season or some movies to wrap the series up, but as it stands...dammit! That's not a good ending!

Except I do love the final image of the series. Because I was just thinking that what defines Al Swearengen and sets him apart from genuinely evil fucks like Hearst and Tolliver is that he cleans up his own mess.

Also, Sol and Trixie are the cutest yet least romantic couple ever.

Nice essay, Corwood. Thanks.

Jane was definitely better in the third season. She had some great lines like "The question I go to sleep with and wake up to every morning: 'What is my popularity with the white people?'" And I liked her friendship/awkward kissing with Joanie. Although I was always rooting for Joanie to hook up with Charlie Utter.
