lisah, I think Lester said they were spoofing the pay phone with a cell for the trace and they plugged directly into the wire to make the phone call (since it is generally not actually attached to anything).
According to NPR this morning, that's 8 different shows for Munch. I was a little concerned about continuity - how can he be a regular at a bar in Baltimore if he's working SVU in NY, but I don't watch SVU so maybe it is workable.
AH! SO they were acting like the call came from the pay phone but then he sent the picture from a cell phone. I get it!
I was thinking that he was supposed to have called from the cell phone.

I agree. In fact, Beau and I are laying down informal bets that more than McNulty's career may be killed...

Because so many elements of the City's power structure will be implicated I expect they'll get eased out quietly. That's the implication with the way the story's been going this season. Nobody's held accountable if they've got damning information.

3 more eps, not 5. They only got the go-ahead for 10 episodes in this season.
And I think Lester will still be standing at the end, but I don't think things are going to go well for McNulty.
