Disclosure: Through my [link] thing, I have become aware that at least one The Wire writer is monitoring this thread, like a '40's playwright camping out by the newsstand for the NYT reviews to be flopped off a truck in the wee hours.

Eventually, we will lure him/her into posting. Because we are evil that way.

Has anyone had any luck with getting the episode in advance on HBO On Demand?

I'm really hating my new cable company.

Always Anti-fascist!

What's a fractal? And if you knew anything about my young life, you'd know competing with the best I ever had, uh, wouldn't be...hard. As it were.(My money's on our bunk, Dave.) Why do you think I have so much time to post and so much passion to give to a city I've never seen, in real life? Although it may have something to do with being born with the TV season, too. I think I might have made my mother think I've tipped over into "The King of Comedy" nuts when I joked that the original posted airdate of 9/18 was a sign of DS' love for me. (yeah...that's right, movies in Cable Hamsterdam...arrest me.) I was joking, though. I don't really have spousal delusions.ETA: Oh, dag, a Wire writer may know I have a lousy sex life and a literary crush on his boss. I can't*wait* till I go to jail! Is my deodorant okay?(sniffs psychic pits)

Don't play that "too young" thing on me. 'Cause I know, you know? People who abbreviate writers names and can tell DS from EB is not only young.

I know you can do your own google. You are a big girl, now.

Patton Oswalt begs people to watch The Wire.

I’ll say this: The Wire is one of the few times you’ll watch TV and not feel like the people making TV think you’re a fucking idiot.

Patton is a God.

The blogger. Not the general.

aka "The artist formerly known as Corwood Industries."

One of my friends got HBO's On Demand to work last night and has promised to bring me a tape of Ep 1 on Saturday. My general demeanor is not unlike a 6-yr-old on Xmas Eve.

Also, I enjoyed David's link in the Movies thread and love that Patton Oswalt is not just championing the show, but has a picture of himself with Robert Wisdom.

He speaks true. And he met Bunny Colvin, uh, Robert Wisdom, who has the coolest last name in the world. But it's dumb to ask people to have it on without watching, even as a joke. (But maybe my mad, though platonic, Colvin love will allow that to pass unremarked. For a while, on another board, I had "Colvin '08" as a tag.) Huh. "Irregular curves". could be just as easily applied to my dry spell as to my posting, Gus.

Just tried HBO On Demand. It doesn't like me.

That is okay. I can wait for Sunday, because I am all full of moral fiber and personal restraint and patience and such.

Why? Why doesn't HBO On Demand like me? I am a good person!

Apparently, individual cable companies get to decide what goes on HBO On Demand. It's your cable company giving you no love.
