Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I think the whole Aussie thing is consciously (on a meta-level) Trying Too Hard.
I missed the GIANT Australian flags, I was so intent on the dialog. Nobody tell billytea. But yeah, trying WAY too hard.
A TWOPPER posted that this is the first time she's looked forward to Tuesday nights since the end of Buffy.
That is nice.
I'm wondering how best to pimp the show to family and friends. I keep ending up saying "Northern Exposure with quatum physics, only a little more sinister" but I don't want to make it sound too derivative.
Weren't we promised --or well, hinted to--that the fake Aussie accent would be a plot point at some time?
Hey, it's Narim! Again!
I know! I've been watching the SciFi run of Dark Angel--I watched bits of an ep or two when it was first-run, but I've sort of been enjoying it, in a low-key way. And the American general from Eureka who's the Russian general from SG:1 was a trooper of some sort in DA, too.
The Narim actor was also on Highlander. Name the Vancouver actor is fun!
And the trailer for next week has Bregman in it!
It confuses ita no end
Yes. Can we please think of the ita?
I should have guessed that Colin would try and play with the chimps. World's smallest surprise right there.
I'm assuming that Nielsen viewers know the drill--telling normal folks about TiVoing or not sounds confusing. I'm letting them collect my recording stats, so even if they're not official numbers, I'm being counted somewhere. Can't hurt.

Just what I was coming here to say. Tivoing gets me more on record than I was before, at any rate. If I were a Nielsen family it might be a different story.
Been watching Eureka and so far I like it a lot more than I theoretically should. Very entertaining. First time since Farscape that I'm hooked on a Sci-Fi Channel show this fast. (Granted, the only other thing I like of theirs is BSG, and that took a whole season for me to hooked.)
Tivo just announced that they're planning to offer second-by-second ratings reports. (As seen on Max Headroom!) So, again, if you skip ads, it might be an issue.
Really enjoyed the episode. Still not sure how much I like this whole conspiracy/consortium thing, but the characters/actors are hooking
me, esp. the whole Carter/Jo vibe.
That's a lot of slashes for a no-slash-intended comment.
Dangit, I skipped Eureka last night since I had rehearsal. I was planning to catch a rerun.
Why is there no rerun? At all?
Folks, there is no need to whitefont stuff that's going on as the episode airs.
But it’s fun!
It confuses ita no end.
Bonus! Until she kills me with her pinky.
The SciFi rep at Comic Con (can't remember whether it was BSG or SG) were very insistent that people not Tivo things, because it affects the ratings. I can't imagine how -- if a Tivo is recording the first broadcast, how is that interpreted by a Nielson box any differently than a human watching? -- but that's what they said.
This doesn’t make any sense. If you aren’t home to watch something, you’re supposed to record what you _would_ have been watching if you were home, so it shouldn’t matter. If there’s a box, it should register either that the TV is off, or that the channel has changed to the Eureka.
Australian. The place they're in is his, and with the Australian flag, and boomerangs, and Kangaroo Crossing signs, and everything, yeah, supposed to be Australian.
I think that the accent is deliberately terrible, and we’re going to find out that was some vet assistant in Kansas or something and decided to reinvent himself in Eureka
