Then the opening credits should reflect that. "They used to have a plan!" or something. To me it just seems like a lie now and a broken promise.

Humans make the cylons, cylons decide they're going to overthrow the humans so they make a plan make skin jobs, who then decide they're the ones with the plan and to overthrow the humans, so they wipeout what the cylons were originally attempting and try to make cylon/human thingies.

Lather. Rinse. Repeat.

I loved the rock music at the end, especially because of the interplay with the sitar. I think I could have done without the actual singing of the song (for the scene, at least, although I suppose it was necessary to put all the pieces together), but the music was great. I also liked all the funky camera work.

I wanted it to be the Hendrix version of the song. That was my only "complaint" about the use of the song.

Yeah, and worse, "Sally." I couldn't understand people getting disgruntled over a throw-away line like that, but it ate at people.

Rewatching the finale, I noticed that Tyrol said, "There's got to be some way out of here," and Anders said, "There's too much confusion," before the Big Reveal. Pretty cool.

There was a lot of song quoting. I noted these:

• Anders hears the music again, as does Chief, and Anders hears Chief humming it. Chief says a line, "Someway out of here," and Anders' eyes pop.

• When Anders gets summoned away from his conversation with Chief and back to nugget class he says, "No reason to get excited," under his breath.

• In the scene where Saul tells Adama about the music and that he thinks it's Cylon sabotage, after Adama says, "Sabotage -- with music?" Saul admits it's hard to explain, but that there's "Too much confusion."

• Same scene -- Adama leaves, to get to court. Saul looks around and he says, "There must be some kind of way out of here."

I didn't get past the trial verdict in my notes, so that's all I have.

I've always assumed that "And they have a plan" was more of a catchy tagline than anything else. I mean, it might still turn out to be true, just as long we allow for many many asterisks and footnotes to the definitions of both "they" and "plan."

I wanted it to be the Hendrix version of the song.

I think using any pre-existing version would have made it near-impossible to incorporate into the episode they way they did and have the timing work. (That said, I wish they'd at least commissioned a cover that sounded more like the Hendrix version. I didn't mind the crack-addled sitar, but the vocals were just wrong.)

Well, sure. But I still feel like we lost something, or I did, when the Cylons started having internal discord and changing things. Kind of like when the unseen monster is revealed, and not so scary after all (Gaknar! But that was just funny).

In my mind, we traded that tantalizingly mysterious menace for some very interesting plot stuff about Cylon free will and the like. The reveal of the four gives me a little of that mystery back. (eta that I don't think it was necessarily a bad trade.)

Of course, it's likely that my desire for an actual plan will only end in disappointed tears.

Which reminds me, that I don't find monster movies scary at all. An irrational or homocidal human though? Scares the fuck out of me. Which is why I think the cylons freak me out even more when they start changing stuff, and Three goes all suicidal and Six is all FRACK EVERYTHING! and Eight's all I WILL KILL THIS KID! Because they're freaking out and that scares me.

Yeah. I actually think that the Cylons have a plan, but the individual Cylons don't know what it is. So maybe "There is a Cylon plan" would be more accurate, but it's not as catchy. They are guessing and second-guessing what they are supposed to do -- they don't know who/what designed them or what their purpose is. Which is the human condition, and honestly... I think that is the plan.

Though I did kinda want the title card to change to "They have a NEW plan," after the S2 finale, because that would have been funny.

And just to throw it in: I believe Tory said "Can't get no relief" while puking.
