So come, my friends, be not afraid/We are so lightly here/It is in love that we are made; In love we disappear

Shrift, I can see where being rendered speechless there would be a good thing.

I was just making co-workers look at pictures of Browder last night. I'm not sure they understood.

Well, yeah, kind of a gimme, there. She's damned funny. And she must finish Crow on the Cradle! OMG the suspense!

She must! I'm on the edge of my seat! And once it's done, I can re-read it!

Man.

THURSDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Ahem.

I haven't even watched the DCs for it. I'm being Moderately Good. Even though I'm on Tape Delay due to Pete tonight.

In retrospect, my choices were: awkward silence, or really fucking awkward silence. Good thing I wasn't channeling my inner Dean that day.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

I'm in the really fucking awkward camp. I can't meet people I'm fannish about in person. Just.can't. Will go out of my way not to. Because I know I will make porpoise noises (Holli? Was that you?) and embarrass us both.

So I will just sit over here and happily consume teevee and film and fic and discuss it all with like minds. And let the articulate and collected and so on do the meet and greet. And envy them like whoa, of course, but this plan is better for all concerned.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

My record of meeting famous people is not so great, between the crying over people post-Katrina, the making an ass out of myself with Nathan Fillion, and the general dumbstruckedness I got when I saw Armin Shimmerman from a distance.

I can't meet people I'm fannish about in person.

I'm fine with it most of the time. I can chat, mention how much I like their work, and wait until they are out of earshot to clap and bark like a seal.

But when there's an actor or a writer who is both breathtakingly attractive and their brains and personality are all that and a bag of chips?

Yeah, um.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

FWIW, I did get to do a long phone interview with Armin Shimerman once, and he was about as wonderful as you could want. Had it been an in-person interview I doubt I could have been coherent, though I'm much braver and self-confident now. (And also on drugs.)

What is even happening?

I love that you were stricken dumb by Snyder at a distance.

It looks like there's a Eureka mini-marathon on SciFi tonight, for those who are still getting with the program....

I made the mistake of referring to Colin as 'handsome' a while back, when talking to my husband about Eureka. I'm still getting mocked for it -- most recently last night, when we saw all the Eureka episodes on our TiVo guide.

Hee. It was less Snyder and more "Quark! And he was on Beauty and the Beast! And that Invisible Man episode! And and and!"

Zenkitty - Mar 22, 2007 7:52:34 am PDT #8529 of 10001
Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

Well, Colin IS handsome. You can't be blamed for simply stating the truth, Cindy!

Loved The Invisible Man. Why is that not out on DVD?

I can usually handle meeting famous/attractive people when I'm slightly drunk. Just slightly, mind you. Because then I can relax about it and hand them a beer or whatever.

It must be awkward for them, too; I mean, here I know all about them (sorta) and they know nothing about me. And I've noticed that the actors/actresses I'm really attracted to physically don't really think they're all that, so that's gotta be a little strange for them too. Witness Paul Blackthorne's recent response to my "why aren't you shirtless more often" question. Poor man.

It was pretty funny. I had to lead her away by the arm.
