In the end, Molly accepts her fate, of course, and vanishes into the sunrise, leaving Our Dear Boys to muse about the nature of hope, or something like that. It is, at its heart, a nice little ghost story, indeed, and the role of Molly was beautifully acted by Tricia Helfer of Galactica fame, but seriously. Yaaaaaawn.

But if they covered their heads we couldn't see all the angst. Plus, it would probably mess with the peripheral vision.

Okay, next week, none of the other things I watch on Thursday at 9 will be on next week, so the tivo is recording supernatural. What do I need to know? I've seen the windigo one and the one with the ghost who wanted to go home, so I know the basics, I think, but those were all first season.

All the kids that have family histories like Sam's - were orphaned at 6 months in a fire appear to have special powers and are being tagged by the demon that killed their mother.
Sam's dad sold himself/his soul to that devil to get Dean back. Dean and Sam suspect this but don't know. . . although recently Dean was told that much was true by another devil. (How much can you trust a devil/demon?)
There is a whole hunter community that are gunning for kids like Sammy and specifically for Sam because he was recently possessed by one of the minions of the demon that killed his mom and killed a (or several) hunters.

There are a number of kids whose mothers were killed in housefires who have strange psychic gifts. And then, they discovered that not all the kids with these gifts had mothers who died in housefires.
See "Nightmare" from season 1 and "Hunted" from season 2. There maybe others.
Oh, and "Simon Said" which also involves one of the psychically gifted folks.

It's worth Netflixing them for nothing but the sweet, sweet ramp up to Dead Man's Blood, Salvation, and Devil's Trap. The first half of first season was relatively meh, but it all started to make sense about half the season in. The mytharc built on those early episodes, and going back to watch later you can see where seeds were sown, where a scene from Shadow is revisited in a scene from Something Wicked, but now the action carries a softer, more understanding and understood weight. Or a scene from the first episode is mirrored character for character in Salvation. And there are character grace notes in episodes like Bloody Mary, Home, Nightmare, that go past so quickly you might not notice them.
The payoff for Devil's Trap is In My Time of Dying, S2 premiere, and the first half of S2 is dealing with the fallout from that.
I don't say someone *can't* pick up watching cold and enjoy the show. I just think there's so much more depth that comes from watching from the get go. I bailed on the pilot because it looked like exactly the sort of movie I avoid, not liking to be scared on purpose. But I watched Dead in the Water because of Amy Acker's guest shot, and the relationship between the brothers, and how they each related, and provided a solid front, to the rest of the world intrigued me and brought me back. I skipped eps like Bloody Mary, because the legend gives me the wig. But when I got the dvds, I pretty much mainlined them, and being able to steep in the unfolding mytharc was invaluable.
Sorry for the babble. I'm going to have to buy a lender set of dvds, aren't I? Mine don't leave the house, precious.
