In addition, doesn't Curare tend to depress the breathing muscles?

Yeah. That's how it kills when it's used in poison darts. Respiratory muscles get paralyzed so you can't breathe, then you die of hypoxia.

I can't fathom Sam/Peter. They'd be too busy clinging to each other crying in combined emo-ness to get it on.

I missed a whole bunch of episodes in the middle of Heroes so I am a little confused. Is Peter Claire's uncle or is one or the other of the Petrelli brother's adopted?

Peter is Claire's uncle, as far as we know. However, Claire doesn't know her father's name, so she doesn't know yet that Peter is her uncle.
