I saw that part of the episode, and all I could think was, "That's not... actually much of an accent?" Really, I had a coach once who was a Geordie, and it was like listening to a different language entirely.
Also, generally speaking, when you fake up a rural/working class English accent, and use it for dramatic purposes to speak about social class in a different context,
the aristocracy
is not the first target that comes to my mind. That kind of muddied waters more for me than if they'd had him faking up a Russian accent.

Well, the Aerolon accent seemed kind of Cockney-ish. And while I'm glad that they sort of explained Baltar's English accent, they did not explain why NO ONE ELSE HAS ONE. Was the entire Caprican aristocracy destroyed, I guess?

Y'know, Anna Paquin doesn't fit my mental image of Sookie, but I don't remember if there's an actual physical description of her in the books.

The books are fun, and the universe depicted in them is interesting. My only problem with them is that they seem to get more and more romance novel-y as the series progresses.(Romance novels aren't my cup of tea.)
I hope we get more Airelon people to see if they also sound British.

I bought one and stopped reading about a third of the way in. And that's coming from someone who finished the Anita Blake books that he's bought.

Evil industrialists who ensnare nice, upstanding country boys in their hellhole factories and build the city of Manchester on their bones? Also, the petit bourgeoisie and anybody who would say Boo to Silas Marner. Perhaps I have been reading too much 19th century literature, but I think "the aristocracy" is the sort of thing one hears out of Russia and other, more serf-y parts of the world than out of rural Britain.
