Y'all see the man hanging out of the spaceship with the really big gun? Now I'm not saying you weren't easy to find. It was kinda out of our way, and he didn't want to come in the first place. Man's lookin' to kill some folk. So really it's his will y'all should worry about thwarting.

AD was definitely taller than me

Apropos of nothing, but AD is smokin' hot in that picture.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

Flatmate reminded me of other data-points we can use in the relative height-map: the cast of Gilmore Girls! Jared Padalecki was like 18 during the first season, and eyeball to eyeball with Grandpa Gilmore, who is Edward Herrmann and looks like Sasquatch. (On IMDB he claims to be 6'5".) (Really, it was kind of hilarious, seeing GG-Dean wander around Star's Hollow absolutely towering over all the other highschool students.)

So, is there a universal lie-factor in Hollywood? I would have said no; most of the tall people I know are either matter-of-fact, or else don't even know themselves and tend to underestimate. But, maybe all the short people gang up on the tall people and peer-pressure them to inflate their heights.

Next up: lying about your age! I think that's gotten a lot harder in the past 10-15 years, but some people foolishly, hopefully persist.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

I can verify DB's height: I'm a hair under 6' and he's very slightly above eye level to me, about the visual height that my 6'1" dad was when he could stand up straight.

What is even happening?

I'm surprised DB is that tall. I don't doubt it. I just never noticed it. I think I notice height less when a man has a large build. Even when he's really slim, he has that beefy body type.

My favorite set of lies about a performer's age, were those surrounding James Marsters. I saw dates as late as 1972! Dude, there are post-pubescent pictures of you from what is Clearly the 1970s. You were an adult on Northern Exposure in the early 90s. We know, okay?

he totally was. the following year i got close enough to talk directly into his ear because it was so loud in the venue. i think he's better to look at in person than he is on tv. same goes for Mark Lutz.

We know, okay?

ha! i remember people digging up yearbook photos for proof. oh the hair...

Marsters was on Northern Exposure? Hah, I never knew that.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

JAR is taller than both AD and DB. Him and I only talked sitting down, so I can't make a more precise estimate.

"Cry havoc and let slip the boobs of war!" -- Miracleman

Sci-Fi is actually playing with the airing order. (Go figure.) I think we're getting Episode 3 first, then Episode 4 or 5, then Episode 1 "Storm Front". Though aside from the pilot (which Sci-Fi requested be chopped down from 2 hours to 1) they're not going to follow the plotlines from the books. Robert Wolfe's explanation is such:

Oh, that’s fine. I meant “fresh” in the sense of a firm “picture” of Harry Dresden in my head. In my mind, he was a redhead, but I don’t know where I got that.

It bugs a bit, but in the end I'd rather have the right actors for the part than someone who perfectly embodies the physical features of the character.

Oh, absolutely. But it still bugs :)

When does Dresden Files start? My Tivo's not showing it in the listings.

On the 21st. It’s in my tivo listings?

Vortex, I'm still exploring the capabilities of my TiVo. Do you have to have anything special to set the programming remotely?
