Art Crawl!!!

BSG promo again - is this all old footage? I want to think that the stuff at the end is new and it's Athena picking up Hera with Caprica and Boomer standing just to the side in front.

Thrive to spite them

I watched the Torchwood finale -- Jack stole all my flail away from Dean and Sam.

Specific thoughts this made up for all the crappy episodes. Although I think some of the crappiness would have been alleviated if they had just taken their time and introduced some characters and then in a later episode killed them off. I wish they'd given the time travellers more time than they did because buying Owen being in love with her just was hard. Also buying Jack's grief over what's her name in the fairy episode. I like Gwen, I didn't particularly like her drugging her boyfriend to admit that she'd been unfaithful and beg forgiveness, but I don't think that was supposed to be a likable moment. Hopefully we were supposed to be a bit replused by what she was doing.

The actress did a fantastic job with Gwen's grief, it was really raw and I did buy. Also I liked Gwen and her boyfriend at the beginning of the episode being coupley and silly.

And like I said Jack came in and stole all the flail from Sam and Dean in Episode 12 with him and the Real Capitan Jack. Actually I wanted to hug the real Jack and feed him soup because he was so...brittle in a way....he looked like he was about to shatter into a million pieces and I wanted to shove those to into a locked room so they could have a bit of passion. And when Real Capitan went over and took Our Jack's hand and they danced it was just.. guh! And that kiss. I'm wondering are we supposed to take away that Our Jack was a bit in love with Real Jack because of his heroic actions? Maybe he read about Real Jack and sort of fell for what he read?

I know some people had problems with Jack being raised up again and then forgiving Owen. Christ like stuff. I didn't have a problem with the forgiving of Owen and Owen breaking down. It was his fault after all and he'd been through so much emotionally and was still reeling over Diane (although honestly I don't understand, but if I can buy Real Jack falling for Our Jack then I guess I shouldn't have a problem with Owen and Diane -- or is it Diana?). I feel bad for Ianto, even though he had his girlfriend he has feelings for Jack and Jack just ran off as soon as he heard the TARDIS.

Art Crawl!!!

Did Doctor Who always have Christmas episodes? Or did that start with the Christmas Invasion? (I just watched this year's Christmas episode thanks to a friend of a friend.) It was fun.

Did Doctor Who always have Christmas episodes?

Nope, just since they revived the series. But the old seasons were differently constructed anyway (different episode length, more continuous storylines, etc.).

It is funny though, because a lot of people said this year that it feels as if the Christmas episode has been around a lot longer than only since 2005.

If I only had a brain...

Sumi, bizarrely, the very first Christmas-aired episode of Doctor Who (with the first Doctor), the Doctor broke the fourth wall and turned to the audience and wished them a Merry Christmas.

Our wings are not tired.

How fun. Do you happen to know the episode, Betsy? I have a lot of early seasons that I haven't watched yet.

Torchwood: Owen's deep love was so odd for me that I thought Diane was alien, had powers of persuasion or something. I came to acceptance in the end, but the 7 minute romance that torched his emotions was just not developed enough to buy. Jack was another matter. His fascination for his namesake was totally believable. He has romanticized this person for 60 years, there had to be a strong emotional impact when they meet. Love Gwen and Rhys(?). I want to see more of them because it gives that needed outside life balance. (I may be a little smitten with him too) I loved all the forgiveness schmoop as a wonderful season ending. Also the yummy TARDIS cliffhanger. Yay!

BSG: How can a show with such awesome in episode music have ick for promo music? Ready for the new season now.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

BSG -- it isn't necessarily true that the same people who make the promos are the producers. Or the network got the rights to the schmoopy music and told them they had to make a promo with it.

I realize that Starbuck/Apollo is turning into the anti-Jim/Pam for me.

Torchwood: I'll have to rewatch the time travellers episode, but I thought the time span may have been at least several weeks. So although we only got to see 9 minutes worth of Owen and Diane, they had plenty of time together.

Owen's arc may be the most interesting of the season. He's gotten seriously broken over it, starting in the third episode.

What is even happening?

Hah. Pam and Jim really are the anti-Apollo/Starbuck, in all ways, aren't they?
