A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

a former Jesuit priest-turned-psychologist who performs exorcisms

Sounds to me like CBS has branched out from police procedurals to Supernatural.

"I remember when they eventually introduced that drug kingpin who murdered people and smuggled drugs inside snakes and I was like 'Finally. A normal person.'” —RahvinDragand

Wouldn't running into legitimate need for exorcisms tend to push one's career path in the opposite direction from priest-turned-psychologist?

"Mister Spock is on his fanny, sir. Reports heavy damage."

But psychologists are not disallowed by their professional bylaws from having sex. So, they have a natural advantage where television roles is concerned.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

But forbidden sex is so much saucier!

yeah, but a priest can only perform an exorcism with permission from the Vatican. You can't just go casting out demons willy-nilly.

The evil is this way?

I think a bishop can give permission. There may be some rules about the Vatican approving who is an authorized exorcist. Dunno. The Catholic Church doesn't like to talk about exorcisms and the exocists I think are not permitted to discuss what they do. It's like "Fight Club" that way, only with incense and chanting.

... and the homoerotic tension, of course.

It kills me that Dana isn't around. I need to make funny screeching noises at her about the latest episode of SGA.

Rev. Gabriele Amorth tends to break that mold, then. He's been quite vocal about exorcisms he's performed, the need for more exorcists, and the practice in general.

Oh, and also about the Harry Potter books being the work of the Devil.

Everyone's a critic...
