Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I thought that comment was somehow ruling him out of the running of people discovering their powers. So we didn't get to see him learn--does that make a difference to the geographic spread?

hmmm maybe it's that only the US keeps the kind of genetic information that would allow them to be tracked?

I wouldn't rule him out, no. Whether they're just discovering or have already mastered, doesn't erase the fact that they have them.

Promo Guy seems to be promising that we'll learn the Why and Why Now of it, perhaps that will have some bearing on this.

Also wish I could remember what the map with the pins looked like, but I'm sure it was marked all over. We only just happen to be seeing those whose stories will intersect and have a bearing on the shows arc, which, yeah, right now has its 'endgame' in NYC. I do think that it would annoy me more to have a representative for as many cultures as possible than to have a largely N.A. cast who don't have to learn how to speak English.

What is even happening?

but as far as we know, he knows about it
I'm not sure what that means.
Yeah, that sounded a lot more clear in my head. Sorry. I mean, okay, aside from people over here, we have Hiro (a guy in Japan) and Mohinder (a guy in India) but as far as we know, Mohinder isn't actually a superhero, he just knows about the superheros.

ita- the little boy with the Syler-esque name? He seemed pretty down with the fact that people reach out to him in dreams, I suppose.

Good point. I've been cringing about the "all over the world" since the pilot, and forgot about the little dream boy from the couple of weeks.

Good points, all. I was just uncomfortable with the "all over the world," wording, when it's so America-centric.

Perhaps whatever factor suddenly made these powers appear is unique to America.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

But it suddenly happened to Hiro, in Japan.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

Hiro was actively trying to...activate his, though.

I wonder if it's not out of the question that while we have our core of mostly N.A. characters, that they may cross paths with one-shot multinationals (who would have to be traveling in America for this to work), or maybe with Mohinder's list, they'll start banding together and really seeking out others. They could do this by starting local, which means more Americans, Canadians, and Mexicans, or maybe the list details powers, and Mohinder and Co. could be all "we could really use this power! Let's go to Slovakia!"

HA. I hope that's what they do. It would be really funny.

And the Slovakian would be all "Dude? You have yams? I'm so there!"
