A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
I had the same reaction in the premiere when Boomer calls Jammer by name as the kidnappees are being taken off of the trucks. I mean, they have hoods on (unless they're main cast... whatever), but calling Jammer by name (twice, I think) within earshot seemed kind of wrong. But, you know, nits.
I haven't seen ep 2 yet, and I won't see it or ep 3 until I get back from Florida. Is keeling me.
I caught up on all of BSG today. I kind of have to get into the mood for the show, you know? And man was it a ride. Sometimes I forget why I like the show, but then I remember that I'm surprisingly invested in it for a show that has, like, no humor. Lack of humor is usually a death nell for me. But I stick around for BSG.
The only thing that bugged me was Fat Lee. I mean, come the hell on. Not only did it look terribly unrealistic, but lovely Jamie Bamber has no idea how to carry it. It looked like a deleted scene from The Nutty Professor.
I think they really should have gone a little more subtle with the weight gain. It really pulls me out, and worse, makes me giggle (and I didn't know that when a guy gains weight, the corners of his jaw become
yoooooge!
Like, comic book/superhero huge)
From what I've been reading (specifically in regards to what Dualla says about him in the season promo), it almost feels like the reasoning behind why he got fat came after the offhand decision to make him fat. "Let's show how things have changed, ooh, here's a fun idea for Lee. Crap, uh, hurry up, what's the psychology behind it?" because it kind of undermines everything I thought I knew about Lee. But perhaps everything that I've gleaned about who he is has been just a bunch of wank to cover spotty writing from people who just don't know what to do with him, and this is just the latest in a long line of shite I'll have to wank.
Or maybe everyone over in the Lee thread at TWoP is just
wrong,
which,
damn.
Eh, maybe it will all gel in the end.
Re: Dr. Who - Aside from limited number of lives, when it comes to life number 13 don't they have to make him evil? And now we have a motive - trying to prevent the destruction of the time lords.
why would he
have
to be evil?
Well Canonically the other doctors had to fight a villain called the Valeyard - who was evil, or at any rate trying to kill the doctor and large numbers of otehr people - and turned out to be the 13th doctor. And supposedly the new show is continuous with the old show. Of course they can simply decide that it does not apply - but it seems like they try not to contradict previous canon if possible.
*head spins*
So, the 13th regeneration ends up going evil, and going back in time trying to kill his older selves, amongst others?
Would we see the munching gargoyles from Father's Day, with that kind of crossing back on his own timeline?
Or maybe he discovers that he played a key role in the Time War, and the only way to undo the genocide of so many races and planets is to take an earlier version of himself out of the equation. Killing a few, but saving billions? Hmmm...

Oh, huh. That would explain why it's so damned sloppy. Whatever, man, I get enough of a headfuck from the rest of the show, I don't need Lee to randomly be overweight too.
And supposedly the new show is continuous with the old show.
I don't know, man, to me it seems like they're not making any particular effort to keep things in sync with old canon. And old canon is large and wily and strange and didn't make sense to begin with, so I'd probably leave it behind too. Besides, they'd come up with something before they hit the 13th regen stage. I can't honestly imagine that DW will be on for that long, really, despite the length of its previous incarnation.
Whew!
Does anyone else watch the BSG preview "on demand"?
