I am not...I am not the damsel in distress. I am not some case. I have to work this. I've lived in a cave for 5 years in a world where they killed my kind like cattle. I am not going to be cut down by some monster flu. I am better than that. What a wonder...how very scared I am.

"Would you mind not farting while I'm saving the world?" - Doctor Who

Any word on a Eureka renewal? I think I'm already starting to go into withdrawals. Last week's episode is still not up on iTunes and I was hoping to watch the last three in episode order (as opposed to air order) before the finale tomorrow night. Guess I'll just have to settle for watching the marathon.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

My mom was just telling me last night that she's getting into the show. I had never mentioned it to her. So that's one non-Nielson family lovin' Eureka in the heartland!

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

It's like a cult hit, if you consider normal people a cult relative to the sci fi channel.

Or something.

God, that made sense in my head.

I'm assuming there's a season 2, well, because that seems the logical thing to do from here.

My sister tried watching it and got distracted.

A week or so later I get an email from her saying "He's Colin!" Despite her sudden and inexplicable obsession with BSG, she's totally not a genre fan. I knew what she meant. Colin was getting to do his stuff. Here's to him keeping getting to do so.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

It made sense to me, ita.

Totally agree! Even though last week's episode isn't up, the podcast is. What a trooper. Sick as a dog but still comes through with the goods. I loved it, phlegm and all!

For me, the best part of the podcasts has been hearing what it's like from an actor's perspective. Most of the DVD commentaries that I've listened to are by writers and directors. It's been fascinating to learn about looping, blocking and how slamming one glass of orange juice can complicate your day. I have a whole new appreciation for the craft and how it takes more than just a pretty face and the ability to memorize lines.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

I'm with ita -- the webisodes can't be spoilers, kind of by definition. Content generated by the show's producers that's in continuity with the show = as close to "the show" as makes no difference. Just because it's extra doesn't mean it's not canon.

That said, they do reveal a fair amount of information that serves as exposition for S3. You learn how much time has passed since the S2 finale, where certain main characters are in their arc, and who a few of the new minor characters are and what their deal is.

The webisodes are NOT required to understand anything in the S3 premiere -- I'm not entirely caught up with them, but from what I've seen so far, all of the relevant things that happen in the webisodes are exposited pretty clearly. You don't really need all the webisode details of the minor characters' backstory to understand their actions or motivations.

throw away events rather than what season 3 is really about

Hm. If this is the case, then you may want to skip them. The events in the webisodes lay the groundwork for some fairly major plot points. (But from the POV of minor characters we don't really get to know during the main season.) So not throwaway, but not necessary.

One other BIG thing to note about the BSG webisodes is that they put a VERY SPOLIERY (30 seconds or so) preview at the end of each one for season 3. So I would wait until you have seen season 3 to not be spoiled, or be very good with the stop button on your computer.

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

My mom was just telling me last night that she's getting into the show. I had never mentioned it to her. So that's one non-Nielson family lovin' Eureka in the heartland!

My sister tried to pimp Eureka to me this weekend. It was so adorable.

(I don't think promos can be spoilery either. Granted, the online versions may be stretching the definition of "broadcast" but still. Promos are not spoilers!)

ColinG - Oct 02, 2006 4:08:08 pm PDT #2097 of 10001

If the promo shows something like an major injury, like someone shooting Adama at the end of season 1 of BSG before the ep showing the shooting itself aired, I would consider it a spolier. I would put these promos in the same category, as it does show some of the events that have not happened yet. If you don't want to be spoiled at all, don't watch the promos.

If you want to discuss the particulars of these promos, you would hopefully whitefont them here, to save those who don't want to be spoiled at all.
