Woah... speedo patrol....CFerg frowns and furrows his brow....

We actually acted the moment that he was blown apart. It was quiet and serious but it didn't make the final cut. I don't know why. The visfx guy, Simon, showed us where the screen would be where we would see it, etc..

No idea why it didn't make it in because it was most definately scripted.

But all in all, frankly, it was a bottle episode and I'm always very glad to get out of a bottle episode at all. A bottle episode is an episode basically shot with little or no new cast, standing sets and minimal fx. It's done to save schedule and money. And they're always really hard to pull off with any sense of action. So I'm just glad it's done.

But the objectification bothers me because I just think it's a bit easy. It's fine if it's earned or hilariously gratuitous but trying to pretend like you're fooling someone is irritating for me. Same thing as any "love" plot. You just gotta earn stuff like that.

But my girlfriend got home and is watching it in the background and there are some good lines in there. And that makes me pretty happy. She posts under littlebug, FYI. Fingers crossed for numbers. I hope we come back up.

Days shrink and grow cold, sunlight through leaves is my song. Winter is long.

Speaking of Carter and Bev,

Oh lets, shall we?

Lots of fun, some good character stuff, a handful of allusions (Zuul, the Buffy ref) broadcast throughout. Very nice.

Now tagless for your comfort.

Also, what is the producers' excuse for why the women seem to be taking off their shirts every episode or two, while the men don't?

Hellooooo...Naked Taggart. Frewer is definitely a little more beefy than he looks clothed.

No idea why it didn't make it in because it was most definately scripted.

That actually makes me feel better.

but I am getting really tired of all the character inconsistencies.

Some of this can be explained by airing episodes in different order than they're shot. Other times, well, new series, yadda, yadda. If the other stuff's good enough (and it is for me in this case) I can handwave a lot of the inconsistencies away. At least for a while. With any luck, when a show like this gets established, those inconsistencies get fewer and farther between.

Did people know about The Sarah Jane Adventures?

Did not know. Thanks!

I am the fly who dreams of the spider

I've always assumed she drugged him. That's why I wasn't at all surprised when she poisoned Susan #2.

That was kinda the "nefarious" angle I was thinking of, but within the plot, why? Gotta go rewatch...

Every time I hear Carter say "oh crap" it reminds me of Darien Fawkes from "The Invisible Man."

Just got season 1!

speedo patrol

and a tube top?

*runs*

I'm so glad to hear that there was a reaction to Pizza Dude's death, gotta go box the ears of some editors now...

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

Poor Pizza Dude! But the job in Eureka probably comes with hazard pay.

I am with Cashmere on quite willing to accept a little inconsistency in return for an overall fun show.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Wasn't there shirtless Jack in the pilot?

And the reason we don't get shirtless Stark is because we can't handle it. It's for our own protection.

Nana korobi, ya oki. (Fall down seven times, stand up eight.) ~Yuzuru Hanyu/Japanese proverb

very glad to get out of a bottle episode

I learned something new in TV speak! I think it's funny that they had Jack resorting to "the bottle" in a bottle episode.

"We are the Goon Squad and we're coming to town...Beep! Beep!" - David Bowie, "Fashion"

very glad to get out of a bottle episode

Heh, I remember that term from reading about various Trek series - a bottle show for them was one where they never left the ship (or DS9), and didn't really intereact with anyone outside of the ship (IOW, no pricey space effects or limited use sets).

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

There was also butt-naked Spencer in the crop circle. The other question, I guess, is when else have all these women been removing their tops, because I really don't remember it.

Art Crawl!!!

And the reason we don't get shirtless Stark is because we can't handle it. It's for our own protection.

Perhaps they can build up to it -- much like they seem to be doing for shirtless Linc on Prison Break. You know, have scenes where his tie is loosened. . . followed by scenes with no tie and an open collar. . . then scenes where his shirt is unbuttoned. . .etc.

A gradual process to habituate the audience.
