oh, god, that was bad. But it had to be done.
Hiro's buddy called him "SuperHiro" after Hiro got chucked out of the karaoke bar.
I like Hiro because he was doing exactly what I've been trying to do for the last forty years or so. In my case, no matter how much I grimmace and concentrate, nothing. No telekinesis, no teleportation, not even a single damn lightning bolt from my hand. (Although I'm sure that last is just a matter of finding the proper arrangement of hand and fingers. One of these days I'll figure it out...)
Hiro was a lovely dork. I did like him a lot.
Is The Uncanny X-Men really that popular in Japan, though?
On the teleportation theme, I just heard that Steven Gould's
Jumper
is being made into a movie -- with Hayden Christensen, Samuel L. Jackson, and Tom Hulce. Not sure how that's going to work. [link]

----i think maybe you've just needed the 'superhiro' glasses.
those spectacles were perfect.
But it was a two hour pilot that got chopped right? And Grunberg got sent to the back half for time - so that might explain some of the pacing isseus I had. But I liked it.
As far as I know, there are at least three versions of this first part of the pilot. I'm not sure what they showed at Comic-Con was supposed to be the "full" pilot after commercials were added because Grunberg was in it, but the screener was a little longer than this broadcast version too.
But I still wanted some better visual for one small person against the world. Alone. Maybe it's a comic book thing.
I think there are a lot of comic-book-type visuals, and I think that's very conscious given what I saw in the previews for upcoming weeks, which makes me very excited.
hi! i'm new. i'm claire.
Like the cheerleader! Hello.

Oh yes. That scene where he just concentrates on the clock, WILLING it to do something? I have done that many times. He's my second-favorite character after Claire, I think.

OH MY JESUS YOU SHOULD SEE MY FACE RIGHT NOW I LOVE THAT FUCKING BOOK. LIKE SERIOUSLY I THINK I JUST MADE THE ORGASM FACE. AND OH MY GOD DAVID S. GOYER OF BATMAN BEGINS AND JIM UHLS OF FIGHT CLUB ARE ON THE SCREENPLAY AND DOUG LIMAN OF GO IS DIRECTING AND AND OKAY I DON'T HAVE STRONG FEELING ABOUT HAYDEN BUT OOOOH.

No idea, though I'm sure, especially after the movies, a good number of younger Japanese have at least heard of the X-Men. I can easily see Hiro being a sort of reverse otaku.
Though I wonder if this means Hiro can read/speak English (which make things a lot easier plot-wise.)
For lightning bolts from the hands -- well, at least little ones -- you can't beat shag carpet and strategic foot scuffling.
Word is they're a million over on EVERY episode so far. 5 deep or so.
HOW?!? Where the hell did all that money go? Did they actually launch something into orbit to block the sun out for the eclipse?
Though I wonder if this means Hiro can read/speak English (which make things a lot easier plot-wise.)
I saw a few pages of an upcoming episode -
he can speak broken english - barely.
his teleportation face might be the best part of the entire show.
