Gotcha. I didn't realize the attempt at fooling was one of the defining elements.

Boxed Set, Vol. III: "That Can't Be Good..."
A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.
Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.
Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.
This is NOT a general TV discussion thread.
...huh. Anyone else a little scared?
Oh boy, yeah. I think we have good ideas and criticisms, both individually and collectively. But I'm not terribly confident of how effective our suggestions would be when applied to the potential audience as a whole.
I mean, Wonderfalls was a really good show that appealed in many ways to a lot of the board posters. And it lasted four weeks, possibly because we may have made up about half its viewership.
Though I did find myself reading transcripts and thinking wistfully of all the Chiana/Jool that people didn't write.
I think people imagined the noises Jool would make and then flung their keyboards out the window in terror.
Tom Cruise, on the other hand, is tall, like American heroes are.
It's just all the hot air providing bouyancy.

Actually, it's the engrams, but don't tell him that.
GA is kinda the gold standard for industry midgets, isn't she?
I think it's that I haven't seen her off a Scully box much, so it was striking. Really the enormous actor head was the relevant part.
There was a guy dressed up at DragonCon as the Burger King guy. I was disturbed and did not take a picture.
And by the way, you guys have no idea how indispensible this feedback is. It goes right to the top and we all discuss it. Even the phrasing of ideas in the posts gives new insights and fleshes things out better.
Right on!
I didn't realize the attempt at fooling was one of the defining elements.
Well, you know--it's like short is some dirty little secret. They go to such lengths (erm) to hide GA's and Cruise's. I doubt Seth really gets boxed unless it is to make the cinematographer's life easy.
I doubt Seth really gets boxed unless it is to make the cinematographer's life easy.
Isn't that why they boxed GA, though? In that it was easier (or faster) long term to have her stand on a box than to constantly be trying to get the right angle (or, worse, go to multiple angles).
Well, you know--it's like short is some dirty little secret.
Given how many actors seem to lie about their heights, I got to agree with you there.
It was so rare we got to see GA being short--it looked like they started a lie and kept it going.
I can't remember Seth being boxed. He just always looked little.
My favourite boxing is Wonderfalls. Lee Pace is looming over everyone. Except for when he's not. It's possible they just dug him a network of troughs.
I think the problem with GA is dual: (1) she's so tiny it might be hard for her to convey the authority of being a federal agent and (2) they developed, pretty early on, a habit of only miking one actor, and then having them stand close so a single mike could pick up both voices.
With (1), eh, I don't think the FBI really has minimum height requirements, and dude, if she can run in those heels I don't even want to know how badly she could beat me with them.
With (2), once that decision has been made, and you've established the physicality of the two actors always standing close together (and character decisions that hinge on that), then she might as well have just worn stacked porn heels for the rest of her contract in that role.
