A topic for the discussion of Farscape, Smallville, and Due South. Beware possible invasions of Stargate, Highlander, or pretty much any other "genre" show that captures our fancy. Expect Adult Content and discussion of the Big Gay Sex.

Whitefont all unaired in the U.S. ep discussion, identifying it as such, and including the show and ep title in blackfont.

Blackfont is allowed after the show has aired on the east coast.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee. (Secret enjoyer of Superhero here, too.)

About the ep: I hate mind control. I hate that a) they totally hadn't thought of how to reverse it and b) it was really easy when they did and c) that completely paranoid people could be convinced to undergo further procedures.

However, it seems like all of this is an appropriate response, so...still enjoying the show. I like the dynamic of Jack's relationships with the town as he tries to find his slot.

Chikat!

thanks for trying !!

Anthrax visiting BSG is positively ADORABLE. Like kids in a candy store.

(Oh, and Pete and I *finally* got around to watching S1 of BSG. We are now not-very-patiently waiting for our Amazon order with the next DVDs.)
Yay! (Well, not the waiting impatiently part. The BSG liking part.)

A TWOPPER posted that this is the first time she's looked forward to Tuesday nights since the end of Buffy.

Aw.

I missed the very first bits of the show last night, because I forgot to hit the right button on the VCR. The Jo knocking out Jack, Harry waking him up holding a log thing made me laugh. Also, Narim!!! Bregman next week! Excellent.

Hello, new thread. You are very shiny and pretty.

If I want to become a cloud of bats, does each bat need a separate vaccination?

and c) that completely paranoid people could be convinced to undergo further procedures.

I assumed some combination of tasers and being strapped into the chairs for this part. (So that by the time they were in a condition to protest, they'd have already been blasted with the calming Reverso-rays.)

Now tagless for your comfort.

Tivo just announced that they're planning to offer second-by-second ratings reports. (As seen on Max Headroom!) So, again, if you skip ads, it might be an issue.

Just wait until we start voting for president that way.

I'm sad people don't like Who Wants To Be a Superhero. I'm really enjoying it.

I'm probably just hugely biased against reality tv. This one just seems overscripted and the people seem more pathetic.

I assumed some combination of tasers and being strapped into the chairs for this part. (So that by the time they were in a condition to protest, they'd have already been blasted with the calming Reverso-rays.)

I made the same assumption.

Hey guys. Here's some stuff:

When we shot the pilot they actually had Matt do the part with and without the accent. And there was talk of that switch to having him come clean that he isn't from Auz, but I honestly don't know how they'd do it.

Then again there is other stuff they did that I had no idea they were going to do.

We laughed when we walked on set for that last scene to see Tag's lab. There was so much Auz stuff. It was a bit much but it actually didn't feature as much as it felt.

Numbers are a funny thing. I'm supposed to tell people to watch it live but, honestly, I'm happy if people watch it at all. And if you watch it at all, and you feel like taping it because that's what you want to do, then I'd tape it. They're all a bit nervous because we are fighting for our life a bit, but I don't want someone showing up for a show a little pissed off because they wanted to tape it and was guilted into compromising for their entertainment.

If you can do it live, great. That's great for us. If you can't, please know that we're grateful for you being there... first and foremost and always.

Having said that, Direct TV and some of the others that are messing up the air times are pissing me off. The number of calls I had from people who missed the show because of air times was disappointing - to say the least.

Lastly, the easy reversal of the mind control felt a bit easy for me too. But I like harder roads and really clever science jargon... I think I'm the only one though.

P.S. Shocked about all the positive Jack and Jo stuff. Not something we worked hard at and listen to the commentary for more stuff on the last scene. We had an hour to shoot 3 hours of work and, well, more later.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

I didn't have a problem with the technical reversal of the mind control rays from space--I'd assume that the research would have come with an off switch.

It's the way Jack talked them down...it was close, but not enough. Some twisting of their paranoia so they had to follow him out would have worked for me--once they're out and restrained, whatever.

However, one needed the "I trust you" speech to Jo, I guess. It felt a bit whiplashy to me--"Distrust me instead! But now I trust you! You are trapped!"

We're very stretchy. - Connie Neil

I missed last night's ep due to Comcast big fat lies, as well. Oh, well, time to track down a rerun later this week.

In BSG news, they're going to do an hour-long recap show to be broadcast on all NBC-owned channels!! [link]

CFerg - Aug 09, 2006 10:11:00 am PDT #113 of 10001

Comcast.... add them to my list...

The last scene: We got there at the end of a long day, we had no time, we got it on it's feet - 3 page monologue for me. And it flat out didn't work. They lit in 20 minutes. Andy rewrote it in 10 and I would memorize as he wrote. We the whole thing in half an hour with 2 cameras burning the whole time.

I'm really proud of what it didn't turn into but agree, we would have loved a little time to finesse it, had a bit more coverage to move them out a bit more. And we greatly look forward to getting an 8th day in second season. (first season was 7 day episodes)

I felt the "cuff'em" bit was for their own good. That they were only gonna be docile for a moment or two....

You always do this. We get tipsy, and you take advantage of my love of the scientific method.

I felt the "cuff'em" bit was for their own good. That they were only gonna be docile for a moment or two....

I liked that moment a lot. It was perfect.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

That made me laugh, too. "So are they all okay...?" "No! They're ##crazy! Restraints, quick!"

Jack didn't say "bugfuck crazy" but that's how I keep remembering it.
