You're wrong about River. River's not on the ship. They didn't want her here, but she couldn't make herself leave. So she melted... Melted away. They didn't know she could do that, but she did.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Nah, but the demon kind of wants to. Still, not going to use it. Not even going to seriously consider it.

I need to go look at the bookshelves and see what the perfect eye level surname would be.

"I'd rather discuss the permutations of swordplay, with an undertone of definite allusion to sex." Beverly, offering an example of when your characters give you 'tude.

Deb: thanks. Not posting it, so no worries... Incidentally the circus posters you describe in the story would make excellent cover art for this anthology... *shiver* Any idea on how many contribs?

Brynn, it's eleven contributors. The anthology is called "Forty Four Clowns of the Apocalypse", eleven writers, four clowns each, equals 44.

We're all getting played with, babe. -Weird Barbie

Deb, congrats! Sounds like you got a lot of really good writing news.

Because books.

Deb, what about using the names of people you care about, or forms of them, i.e. Joanna Nichols? I always thought the eye-level thing was risky -- my B&N's shelves shift from time to time, so that no one is ever in the same place forever.

The lost sheep grow teeth, forsake their lambs, and lie with the lions.

Deb, maybe you could use the last name of one of your fictional characters. That would be a fun way of tying the pseudonym back to your other works.

Always Anti-fascist!

Joanna Nichols is a nice one.

Good Trouble and Righteous Fights

Joanna Nichols is a good pen name because it looks like a real name. I have a pet peeve about pen names that just scream their fakeness.

If I ever have to use a pen name, I think I'm going to pick one of my ancestral surnames, Fraser, for being attractive and toward the middle of the alphabet. Not sure whether I'd be Susan or Susanna, though.

All good ideas, and to be pondered. But it's all what-ifs, because the Really Big Cheese Editor hasn't said yea or nay yet.

One of the single most galling things about publishing is the waiting.

Susan is me in regards to the funky name thing. All my net names are names, except for on LJ. I used "Angela Frandina" for a while and got two main responses. 1. Nice Italian girl. 2. You don't really do that, do you?
