The Great Write Way
A place for Buffistas to discuss, beta and otherwise deal and dish on their non-fan fiction projects.
First of all, all of you "real" novelists...new respect here.(Well, I always respected it, but I'll stop asking "Why doesn't Writer X get on with it and write a new book, already?) Plot Question: My character has just been caught in a Big Lie, and worse she came between a mother and her daughter to do it(I know. Danger! Danger, Will Robinson!) But the kid begged her to keep her secret, so she did. And it came out. And I want them to work it out, but not in a phony afterschool special way.
erika, two questions to ask yourself, that may help:
1. Which of the characters (it can be all of them) is your main traveller here?
2. What's at the end of the road you want them to take? As in, what do you want to happen to them/enlighten them/obfuscate them/get them to learn?
When I started, I was much more sure that I knew the answer...I may have to write a few versions or something.
erika, drabble the scene. Write 100 words and just let it flow; write a few of them and see which version sings at you, or feels true.

What Liese said.
Deborah -- I requested your book for my local library!
(I intend to buy it too, of course.)
Woot!
I looooove library sales. The books stick around....
Deb, I'm going to order your book from the bookstore around the corner from me and talk her into buying a few extras as display copies. Um, if I can, of course. *g*
'suela, if she wants autographed, I'll be delighted to drive over and sign as many copies as she wants.
Going to offer something up in Beep Me over the next few days: Nic's designing a totally fictional tour jersey for my protagonist's totally fictional traditional music band. First person with a verified store sighting of the book will win the shirt.
