This money, it is too much. You should have some small refund.

How are you me? You need to stop that. Only I can be me. ~Kara

Hee! I'm liking Nic more and more the more I hear about him (except for that coming home late on Avonex night stuff).

If I only had a brain...

Actually, that's a kickass lead. GO with it.

It really doesn't matter. It's just an opinion. Don't worry about it. Not worth the hassle.

Betsy, are you serious?

an overblown libretto and a sumptuous score/ could never contain the contradictions I adore

I like it.

I like it too, though I might change it to "intimately acquainted with".

If I only had a brain...

I'm quite serious. It's a grabber, it's funny, and it happens to be true.

If I only had a brain...

Deena's right. Or "familiar with".

The only time I had to write an About The Author note, the editor asked me for one and I said "Oh, you mean the usual "She has two cats, one husband, and spent seven years in the French Foreign Legion" thing? Fine. Elizabeth Hanes Perry is a typical suburban matron living in the South with her husband and children."

Guess what I saw when I cracked the anthology to the back?

Vive le sacre...

"Sordid fleshpots"?

For a bio?

(wanders off to bathtub to soak and consider whether a milder version of this might be less likely to scare away Ed Kaufman and potential buyers)

If I only had a brain...

It's obvious hyperbole. Ergo funny.

Not having has never been the thing I've regretted most in my life. Not trying is.

Yep, lightens it up nicely, and adds the irony you mentioned earlier.

I understand that you're going for a more conversational tone. Though I haven't ever actually had a conversation with you, this reads rather milder than I imagine you to be.
