I got a postcard yesterday informing me that the little devotional meditation I submitted a few weeks ago to a magazine that publishes such things is being held for further consideration. IOW, I cleared the first hurdle and avoided outright rejection, so I'm pretty happy. And it gives me the encouragement I need to keep submitting stuff, because, hey, at least I got a nibble.
Totally. Good for you, Susan.
Damn right. Keep it flowing.
I got a rejection slip from the Atlantic.
Idiots (Atlantic).
Shrug. It was topical, it's dated by now.
[WAAAAAAAH!]

But everybody wants to be in the Atlantic...except now that they didn't publish Betsy.
The fact that they didn't publish Betsy puts them off my list. Because I read one of the things they didn't publish, and it was superb.
But I expect they honestly didn't get it out of the pile until the subject matter really had altered in realtime.
