But the things that should be new are old and the things that should be old are new. And the people just don't feel Alaskan, and there should be more women.

And I know I've been harping on this, but there should be no mukluks in Southeast, and if someone had them, they certainly wouldn't wear them in that weather. Instead, they would be wearing ExtraTufs (Juneau tennis shoes, similar to Wellingtons). Actually, I was doing ok with the handwaving until I saw that, and then everything went downhill from there.

I'm glad to see a non-Alaskan's perspective, though. I wondered how much was the show and how much the setting/culture problems.

I think the large number of men were for the plot in the pilot. From the episode descriptions I've read of the next few shows, it looks like it may balance out.

They obviously have to play up the stereotypes for the Lower 48 crowd but I think it's not so obvious for someone who isn't from Alaska. I'm also sure they'll get her proper footwear soon.

My beef isn't with the heels she wore, but with the throwaway line that was something to the effect of "I guess you forgot your mukluks" which made no sense at all. It's funny, but I think bad throwaways often bother me more than major problems.

Totally a throw away line. He should have made a comment about her messing up her Jimmy Choos or something. I just ignored the line because it was lame.

I love Abraham Benrubi in this. I think it's a great part for him.

today started out poorly - it looked as if it would be continuation of the week thus far - frustrating and full of errors. BUT NO! I have turned it around. I have approvals. I am getting work done from peers. I am clearing off my desk. I impressed a client. I am on top of what my boss wants. YAY!

OH! and I might leave early! Not just ON TIME! but half an hour EARLY!!
