Weird. The 14.1" comes in two different resolutions: 1280x800 or 1440x900. The 15.4" comes in 1280x800 or 1680x1050.
I'd go for the smaller laptop with the higher resolution.

What are you using it for? Multiple apps open at once? Watching movies? Will the bigger screen really make a difference?
Hmm... not really. Its more for the sake of "oooh, bigger" than functionality I guess.
It's replacing my desk top. I want to be able to take it places but won't do so on a regular basis. (Hell, I don't even like carrying a purse)
If it's a desktop replacement, I'd say go as big as your budget can afford.
