Count me in on the Sneakers love too. In fact, it's been a while since I have watched it, so I may need to watch it this weekend.

YAY

It takes more energy to manufacture a hybrid than to a regular car. Compare the energy consumed by a HUMMER and a Prius over their entire lives (including the gas they will consume), a Prius will consume more than a HUMMER

I doubt it. I note they do not document it. A car consumes a whole more in operating expenses over lifetime than in manufacturing energy. Depends on what hybrid. There are hybrids that get fairly low mileage, putting the extra power from the battery into better performance rather than less gas use. And even with most efficient hybrids there are very efficient conventional models that come close. But a decent hybrid (like the prius) to a Hummer which gets freakin low low milege - does not pass smell test. Out of curiousity I'll look it up.

And then Ortus came and said "It's Ortin' time" and they all Orted off into the sunset

My personal theory about Sneakers is that it is so universally beloved and acknowledged to be made of awesome that it frequently gets left out of lists and conversations.

If you look at the history of that Wiki page, this item was only added in the last revision.

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I love it. Clearly, we should sit up and watch it and drink Fernet one night. Yes.

Hey, I'm going to be in your part of town (-ish) tomorrow night; a friend of mine are seeing Ty Barnett at the Punch Line. I was thinking if you're not busy I could stop by for a bit afterward. It bothers me that I go months without seeing people who are actually geographically close to me.

I like to think that there are actually many many people out there who have never heard of it but would love it if they only had the chance to see it, so therefore it's my duty to watch it with them and share the joy.

OK - apparently there was a study Spinella called "Dust to Dust" that was an attempt at a LCA assessment, that came to that conclusion. Thing is there is nothing inherent in a hybrid that should result in that much energy being put into it.

I probably haven't seen it.

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I'm working tomorrow night, but I always enjoy vistors - drop me a line and I'll let you know where/when.
