Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Despite my love of Delicatessen, Amélie, and all things Jeunet, I've heard so many bad things about Alien: Resurrection that I've never even attempted it.

There are parts of Alien: Resurrection that I like and parts that I loathe (like the alien baby....)

On the other hand, I despise Alien Resurrection with a passion, and that Joss did script doctor work for it only exacerbates the badness, in my book.

Not just doctoring, I'm afraid - I think that was his baby entirely, but with director-ordered changes that he fought tooth and nail (I think Michael Wincott's death, now with extra-stupidity, was one of major bones of contention), not unlike the Buffy movie. There was a great interview in the Onion (I think) where he got into details on that (and also why he'll never be casting Donald Sutherland in anything).

The fascinating thing with it is you can totally map the majority of the smuggling crew to the characters in FIREFLY (not to mention that the whole science station had a big whiff of Alliance to it).

What else besides ramen can you scoop? YOU CAN SCOOP THIS WORLD FROM DARKNESS!

I love that Sneakers somehow managed to make this list. I have an irrational love of that movie and usually no one seems to have heard of it.

I love love love Sneakers as well, and I am surprised no one else jumped on this comment.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

the alien sandwich hybrid is sorta the "science" of The Fly, right?

And a lot more works besides. I'm pretty sure that me swallowing a frog wouldn't lead to green and leggy clones of me, but I've never been swallowed by an Alien. I'm more surprised at the idea that the clone of me would end up with a frog in its stomach, but there you go.

Well, I love caper movies in general, but one with Robert Redford, Sidney Poitier, David Strathairn, Ben Kingsley, River Phonenix, and a conspiracy-theorist Dan Aykroyd? Who wouldn't love it?

God! How could I have forgotten Michael Wincott! One of my favorite favorite hottie actors. Er, for certain, Emily-created definitions of hottie, obviously*.

(* Ones which includes Danny Trejo.)

I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

I love it. Clearly, we should sit up and watch it and drink Fernet one night. Yes.

THE FLY at least gave lip service that because the machine couldn't work out the differntial between fly and human, it fused them at a genetic level. With ALIEN RESURRECTION, your not just talking about a sandwich you ate, your talking about one that you threw up (granted, in Ripley's case it was horizontally throwing up, but the point stands).

That said, science aside, hybrid!Ripley was one of the more enjoyable things in the movie.

It's five thousand for kissing, ten thousand for snuggling... End of list.

THE FLY at least gave lip service that because the machine couldn't work out the differntial between fly and human, it fused them at a genetic level.

The problem I had with The Fly is that there would be lots & lots of genetic material in the booth; did they somehow distinguish between a fly and a bacterium?
