I’d be lying if I didn’t say that I miss them all tonight…

Hawaii does have an abudance of very pretty views from the highways and not many people on said highways - easy enough to want to speed around, I'd think. Also, cops who are less likely to let them off because they're famous.

That baby has waaaaay too much hair.

I had hair like that when I was born, except mine didn't lie flat. It looked like I'd stuck my finger in a socket, thick dark hair sticking out all over. Those very first pictures of me are a bit... disconcerting. I got hella cute for several years later on though, so it worked out.

Socks are a running theme throughout the series. They are used as symbols of freedom, redemption and love.

It looked like I'd stuck my finger in a socket, thick dark hair sticking out all over

I think the hair sticking out all over sounds adorable.

My youngest sister (Helena Handbasket to you here) was born with lots of black hair as well, but hers only stuck straight up on the top. Very punk. Weirdly, her post-birth hair grew in dark blonde.

Because books.

That's the thing, though -- most babies with that much hair at birth lose it within a few days. I don't think I've ever seen a baby that young (but not newborn) with that much hair.

Her eyes are kind of weird, too.

What were the police-mistakes in the Borden case? It's been so long since I've read about it, I have no clue about that level of detail.

Well, the fact that she was able to wander around for days afterwards, destroying possible evidence. They didn't really search the house for evidence. And her contradictory testimony at the inquest was disallowed because she wasn't sworn in, although the judge seems to have been rather biased so I don't know if the cops should be blamed for that.

For the time and place, a lot of the mistakes are understandable, but still.

The summary here is pretty detailed (and provides sources, which is always nice).

I was born with a full head of black hair much like Suri with a fringe on top (HA! Thank you, amych!) but it all fell out after a few days. When I did start to grow hair again, it was blonde. Weird.

Yeah, I've heard that. Mine never did fall out, much to my mothers dismay, because she couldn't do much with it, but it did learn to lie flat, eventually.

In non hair news, loved Nip/Tuck last night. So, the woman who was talking to Julia over lunch - is she well-known? Someone mentioned her name above .

Ann, that's a ferret.

A bit on the disappearance of Judge Crater.

Murder in Hawaii? How about the Massie case?

Always Anti-fascist!

Seeing all those noirish trailers made me think I'm a demographic for my birthday. The Short case is famous because of the Hollywood thing, the fact that she was sexy , and, you know the mutilation and the good Midwestern girl turned sometime hooker thing I think Ellroy thinks that guy killed his mother, too. Anyone who wants to start reading true-crime should read Homicide: A Year On The Killing Streets. It surpasses any other true crime book I've read, ever.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Murder in Hawaii? How about the Massie case?

If there are no Lost castmembers involved, I just don't care.

I don't know if black babies and their hair has any relevance...wait, no, I think it doesn't because I was noted for not having much hair (it was really just a giant mutant forehead) and I'm sure I had as much or more than Suri at three months. We did have one cousin who popped out with one hell of a fro--they combed her hair about once a month, because it was way too stressful to do normally. I'm not sure why they just didn't cut it.
