(Not mucb of a mystery actually. He was going to testify against Tamany Hall, and disappeared. Gee, what could have caused that? But the point is we don't know for sure, and in any case we don't know specifically *who* in Tamany Hall killed him. Rather like Hoffa in that respect. But maybe more famous mystery than Black Dahlia.)

This could fall under "just can't help it" because it's really sorta trippy. I KNOW Joey Potter didn't hook with Tom Cruise... and yet... I keep picturing her running around the creek and climbing up the ladder to hang out with ol' square haid and thinking "who'd have imagined..."
It's the only one I've ever read, and I decided I wouldn't read more in the future, but the title of that one, combined with subject matter, was too much for me to resist at the time.
