>Is there any breakdown of that more than half by specific faith/sect
I can probably dig up something on that tomorrow
I lied! I can see the responses to a particular question, but I don't think I can cross-reference it with demographic data. Rats.
But I did dig into belief in creationism/ID a little, and the numbers get a bit weird. This is the best example. First, people who said they were either "very familiar" or "somewhat familiar" with _____:
Evolution: 82%
Creationism: 74%
Intelligent Design: 45%
Just to establish that they're not all horribly confused. Next, same survey, people who said that ____ was either "definitely" or "probably" true:
Evolution: 55%
Creationism: 58%
Intelligent Design: 31%
In conclusion, some people are able to have tea and no tea at the same time. I looked at some other surveys and it looks like, if you frame the question so that people have to select either evolution or creationism to describe their beliefs, responses tilt pretty strongly toward creationism. If you include an option like, "human evolution was guided by God," it evens out again.
The numbers are still depressing, but they're not... totally horrifying. I guess. Yay?
Does anyone much about Ned Lamont? I finally watched Monday's Colbert report, and I think maybe he's my new secret politican boyfriend.

God made me just the way I am! I didn't evolve from no monkey! Unless I did!
Those stats are also a little strange in that Creationism and ID are essentially the same thing. (But I guess the fact that fewer people are familiar with ID explains why fewer people think it's true.)

He gets really big points for not being Joe Lieberman. No seriously, that is a major plus.
whoa whoa whoa back up!
the defendent was wearing a white bubble skirt that barely covered her ass, one of those shrunken-belly baring one button jackets in blue seersucker over a black bra and white 4 inch stiletto slingbacks.
And you guys found her
NOT
guilty?!
I feel free to believe that God created life and in evolution.
I got an email last night from one of the most popular girls in high school-- she got my email address and had been DYING to ask if it was me that she saw on some game show years ago.
And, was it you, bon bon?

Oh yeah. So far he's gotten the first of my contributions this election season. I'm on pins and needles waiting for Tuesday.
bon bon, FUN! It's cool when people from the past get in touch.
My class had their 15th year reunion (a year late even) this year and I had planned on going because I know weigh less than I did then and I look so much better, but grad school got in the way. But they sent a list of email and snail mail addresses and I'm tempted to do a special holiday letter to the people I liked from high school.
