I was prepared to go in and teach all the krav classes so other people could go to the service
ita, I am *so* glad that I know you.
I know you might say, "Because I was going to teach all the classes? That's just what you do when there's a need -- it doesn't make me a saint."
But the thing is, not everybody would do it. I think probably most people wouldn't do it. And then, of the people who *would,* there are those who would expect Others To Notice. (I mean humans in general, not specifically your fellow krav-ers, students and instructors alike.) And I just wanted you to know that -- you are quite the human.
And I'm so sorry about Marni.
Sometimes just being is all you can do. Sometimes it is enough, sometimes not.
And I just wanted you to know that -- you are quite the human.
You really are, ita. And I am glad Steph pointed it out so nicely.
{{ita and the krav center}} so so sorry
ita, I'm sorry for your (and the world's) loss.
Matt, thanks for posting the good news update on your dad. I'm glad he's doing better.
I'm so sorry, ita. What a terrible loss to the world.
What Cashmere said, on all counts.
I think I earned a few karma points today. One of my coworkers had his rental car stolen while at a project site, and neither the rental company nor our employer would cover the gear he left in the car (all of which was stolen, probably $600 worth). So I sat down and got the whole story from him, and then went to our office manager and laid the equity argument on him. Just because the company is a jerk doesn't mean we have to be.
That felt good. Except I shouldn't have needed to do this; I'm not this guy's boss. But his boss didn't do it. And I shouldn't have had to remind the office manager, either.
I hate it when people force me to stand up for them. Stupid people.
ION, I have the whole run of Life On Mars to watch this weekend. YAY!
I watched Sandra Lee for the first time today-- OMG, so appalling. I am, however, glad that her food seems nearly as inedible as it is unappetizing, because it must be
crawling
with food-borne pathogens. That woman has awful food practices, not to mention seems to not remember what she thinks from one moment from to the next. She doesn't even know how to pronounce chipotle-- it's a goddamn chain!
I don't know what it is today. Our super just informed Bob and I out of the blue that she has breast cancer.
In honor of finally closing the book on a too-long August:
The morrow was a bright September morn;
The earth was beautiful as if newborn;
There was nameless splendor everywhere,
That wild exhilaration in the air,
Which makes the passers in the city street
Congratulate each other as they meet.
—Henry Wadsworth Longfellow
In other news, I finally caught up with Project Runway (and have changed my tag accordingly). I can't believe that
Alison
left before
Angela and Vincent
! That's just wrong. But
Paris
! Yeah!
