GodFUCKINGDamn.
August is over, right? Last night, Marni Levine, the first female US black belt in our branch of krav, died of cancer. She'd had breast cancer and fought it back into remission a few years ago, but this time wasn't so...lucky? She leaves behind a husband, two young children, many friends and colleagues and students who will grieve her almost as fiercely and brightly as she taught and led.
I didn't know her well, but she was nothing other than kind to me, and I respected her a tremendous deal. I wish...well, all of us wish we could have had more time with her, I wager, and most of them have more closeness with her with which to claim it.
But selfishly I wish I'd had a chance to know her better and train with her more.
