Rio, I just had a conversation about Lloyd Dobler with a (boy) friend. He was all pissy that really, if any guy did the thing with the radio, it'd be creepy and stalkery.
I concur, but I think the point, and what makes it unbearably romantic (to me) is that he remembered the song she casually pointed out was on the radio after they had sex and he remembered it. It was important to him. Mostly, the boys I knew in high school (and college, and, well, now) wouldn't remember that, or what color my eyes were.
For me, it's that he remembered all the details that boys can't be arsed to remember. Or at least the schlubs I fuck in the back of cars.
Does that look like ass?
No - that's exactly right. And put your fandom organizing stuff under there too, because it's related to your writing. Gives a fuller picture of your organizational ability and reliability etc.
The Sure Thing is on cable right now and it has a lot of nice little moments. Cusack talking about the stars. Him teaching her how to shotgun beer. Lots of sweet chemistry, really.
The most touching thing my ex ever said to me was comparing me to his cat. So in real life I'm all about the comedic romance.
The, um, the scene in "Truly Madly Deeply" where, uh... actually, I can't so much think of a particular scene for the romance.
Two from that movie occur to me: When they play that song ("The Sun Ain't Gonna Shine") together, her on piano and him on cello and he's playing the cello like a guitar; and her with the New Guy when they're doing the hop on one foot tell each other a fact about themselves thing.
Another family member has come out of the closet. I think that no one is related to more lesbians than we are. Sheesh
Apparently I need to go to ita's family reunions!!
And, duh, I got to jury a trial. Which isn't bad really, just....
At least it was a short one? With a verdict? (And whoot, girlfight!)
Can someone point me where I can find the Oz/Willow "freeze frame" conversation/quote? I would love you forever.
I have not seen that...is on my list.
It probably says something about me that I saw "The Grifters" first, huh?
When Casey tells Dana on Sports Night she's "smoky" and she smiles all night.
When they play that song together, her on piano and him on cello and he's playing the cello like a guitar; and her with the New Guy when they're doing the hop on one foot tell each other a fact about themselves thing.
"The sun ain't gonna shine in your eyes... when you're without her..." Are probably not the words, but I never understood the words. The tune, nevertheless, is right back in my head. I actually didn't find the hopping thing as charming as I think I was meant to, partly because I was rather ambivalent about that date as a whole. Don't know why. I liked the guy ("Nothing up my sleeve! Nothing on my plate but gravy - yum!") but... I dunno.
I like the scene in Groundhog Day where Bill Murray tells Andie Macdowell all the things he knows about her.
Oh, um, is Lee about, perchance?
Believe she's watching TV at the moment. You want I should call her to the computer?
