I would be there right now.

I must obey the inscrutable exhortations of my soul—Calvin and Hobbs

Oh, dear. Ernesto's projected path is pretty much all over Florida. I hope it disappates over Cuba, too.

The science thing that Tommyrot posted brings to mind Colbert's thing about reality having a strong liberal bias.

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

I'm pretty sure the math one is humor. The science one is real.

Oh yeah. The math one is not listed at the P.I.G. site: [link]

Bah. Maybe I should go back to bed.

Woe to the fucking wicked.

Hil, assuming you're right, that's just not playing fair.

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Oh, my, I'm so very sleepy. I even went to bed at a very sensible time. I think. I took a post-bedtime phone call and didn't check the clock.

But sleepy.

The last of the things I had to do yesterday in my overbookedness was have dinner with a couple of students. Nicest couple you could imagine, and they invited me over and prepared a lengthy meal to me. I honestly thought we were done after what turned out to be appetizers. I had to make profound and continual apologies for not finishing everything, but I did taste everything, and it was fascinating.

Mostly Japanese food, all vegetarian. Did you know there was tofu with no soy? We had sesame tofu. Apparently there's even carrot tofu.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I saw the P.I.G. Science book in a bookstore recently, looked over a couple of pages, shuddering and resisted the impulse to misshelve it in the Humor section.

"Look, son, if it's good enough for Shirley Bassey, it's good enough for you."

and resisted the impulse to misshelve it in the Humor section.

Theo, you need to be more impulsive.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Those PIG books are really appalling. It's the attitude as much as the text in some of the descriptions, really.

Bet your feminist teacher never told you:

More than ever, women in their twenties and thirties live alone, are discarded by boyfriends after “living together,” and are watching their biological clocks tick past the point of no return.

SHOCKING!!

Bet your teacher never told you:

What is known today as the “Islamic world” was created by a series of brutal conquests of non-Muslim lands

Unlike any other part of the world?

Well not canonically, no, but this is transformative fiction.

Unlike any other part of the world?

Those were gentle conquests with lots of hugging.
