Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

I am super not-cranky. I have a watermelon tootsie pop!

I'm sorry I have all the not-cranky over here.

Art Crawl!!!

Dana! I thought that very same thing about the person disguised as Michael Kors' mother.

Because books.

Hee! Dana, my husband said when he first glimpsed her, "Michael Kors's mother is a maaaaan, baby!"

there are those people who would simply be better company stoned.

This is so true.

'we all walk this earth feeling we are frauds. The trick is to be grateful and hope the caper doesn't end any time soon"

I expect in The Jeffrey's case, heroin was a form of self-medication for the personality troubles that are all too evident without opiates.

"Faded like the lilac, he thought."

Hee! I was actually glad that Jeff survived this round, because he would have only blamed his loss on Angela's mother instead of taking any responsibility himself. Also, how completely predictable was it that his mother totally tried to cover up for him and smooth over his messes. I bet she's been doing that his whole life.

Further, did anyone think this episode did anything further to ameliorate last week's comments about the model? It seemed like they implied it would in their response to Kathy's blog, but I don't feel like they came away with anything more positive about women's body image.

And lastly, I'm disappointed that it was a skinny dress that won. I was sitting there wondering what they'd do for a dressform to show off a larger dress in the winner's lineup, but of course, they chose otherwise.

On to other things. I have two friends who could rightly be referred to as the Reverend Doctor Soandso, but we call them Jim & Bill, instead. Sometimes I forget that they are respected professionals and people know about them in their fields. That is to say, I guess, the more right they have to use titles, the less they make a fuss about it.

One thing about the models this week, even the skinny ones were bigger than the "plus size" model Alison dressed last week, right? They all seemed to be full-sized people, not model-skinny. I also think this competition was about more than size -- I think the age thing was (or could have been) as much an issue as the sizes. Which is why when Michael got to pick first, he picked Robert's sister -- no one's mother, no one fat.

I think that they are fooling themselves if they think that this does anything to ameliorate the comments from last week. However, Tim has ameliorated his comments for me by being in complete agreement with me that Uli should have won. He pointed out in his podcast (and on the Tim's Take blog) that she created the best design AND she had a model who wasn't all modelly. Okay he didn't say "modelly". But you know what I mean.

I'm terrifically busy with my ennui.

I think this week's challenge proved that most of the designers have no clue how to design for a plus-size woman, at least not on such short notice. Shapeless ponchos? Ick.
