Yeah, I'm done with work for the day.

Off-topic discussion. Wanna talk about corsets, duct tape, or physics? This is the place. Detailed discussion of any current-season TV must be whitefonted.
There was a period when Salon was worth paying for, right around the time we Went To War and all that.
Now, it's not usually even worth me clicking through an ad.
I know, Vortex, can you believe? I thought it was a joke at first.

Yeah, that Survivor thing is bananas. They had to recruit like 80% of the contestants, so there are a ton of actors etc.
Sometimes google is just not the right idea. t /random
I used to Love To Hate their TV critic but then she wrote her column in Deadwood speak and says she is a Wire fan, so had to take her Off Notice. Still miss Joyce Millman, though.
My main gripe with Salon in its current incarnation is still the shitty-ass decision to turn the letters to the editor section into a barely-moderated posting board. It's unpleasant, depressing, venomous, and also totally incomprehensible since they still have TT so it's not like readers have no other options for instant gratification and feedback.
Also, I'm feeling all sour over how little they print anymore of Joe Conason or Ann Lamott, easily my two favorite writers there. And on the rare occasions that either one does post an essay it's immediately answered by eleventy jillion rabid letters from representatives of the far ends of the political spectrum crucifying them for their various sins of moderation and reasonableness and being either too hardheadedly practical or too moonbattily idealistic, with subsets of attack dogs lunging at Conason's throat for being a Clinton ass-kisser and Lamott's for either pretending to be both Christian and intelligent or, in her more personal essays, daring to suggest that parenting is not 24/7/365 sunshine and roses and snugglepuppies.
It makes me think fondly and lovingly of the Onion's editorial policy (last item in the FAQ).
Oh, that Gawker response to the Forbes idiocy is a thing of beauty!
Yeah, I don't write letters to the ed for the same reason I skip talk radio...don't want to be One of Those. ETA: That looks funny next to my tag...bwah!
