OK, so I got REALLY cranky driving home. Traffic and drivers were stupider than most, I had a bazillion stops to make, I was hungry and really didn't feel like the chicken I'd set out to defrost. I was yelling at everyone from my car.

Get home, putting stuff away, discover the hot water is out again, and there's a knock at my door. It's the neighbor who had commiserated with me in the parking lot over the traffic.

She's got a plate of food for me: a delicious shrimp salad, crackers, buffalo wings, some sort of fishcake (tasted like tuna, but who knows- I liked it! and I don't like crabcakes) and a fruit salad of kiwi, watermelon, fresh pineapple, melons and grape.

Said I looked like I needed a good end to the day.

I am SO NOT CRANKY now!!

Even like people a little bit.

All sorrows can be borne if you put them into a story. Tell me a story.

What a great neighbor.

She's awesome. I don't even know her particularly well as we just exchange chitchat in passing, just her name and that she's a retired principal.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

That's seriously cool, sarameg.

Sometimes I trip on how happy we could be.

Such a nice neighbor, sara! I like your neighbors.

Every so often, I get wiggy about living so close to other people (it's my privacy issues) and then...well, then stuff like this happens.

Every now and then, I think I might actually be a little odd.

sarameg, I'm glad you have a nice neighbor to cheer you up!

disclaimer: I am depressed and have had a bad day in regards to being helpful to my Fellow Man

You know what would surely happen if I brought a yummy plate of food to a bad-day-having neighbor? First, they would answer the door annoyed because I had interrupted Something Important, then they would stare at me as if I were a crazy stalker, then they would stare at the plate of yummy food and tell me they were allergic to X or they didn't eat X, then they would close the door in my face, leaving me standing there forlorn feeling like a complete idiot. Which I seem to do a lot, after trying to be helpful to my Fellow Man.

I wouldn't! I'd take it happily and tell you how you have singlehandedly made up for my crappy day and then I'd eat it and wash the plate and return it, gushing thanks yet again!

Question to wrap up the afternoon: what is your favorite restaurant?

Overall, that would be Dar Maghreb in LA. Locally, it'd probably be Dish, though if I'm hungry for steak I go to Texas de Brazil and for sushi I go to Sekisui.

The feeling you get when your brain finally lets your heart get in its pants.

Are there any decent frozen mac and cheese's? I feel the need for it for dinner, and I don't want to go to Whole Foods if I can helo it.
