Oy - I have jury duty at the end of the month. I have already deferred it once. I'm still working solo here - no news on the return of my assistant. FUN!!!!!
Spike's Bitches 31: We're Motivated Go-getters.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
How is S.
She's okay. She's feeling a little bleh today, which can probably be chalked up to her more or less sleepless and foodless hospital stay, but I'm nervous and jittery at the slightest murmurs from her all the same. It's probably nothing, but I have directions to the new hospital on my desktop, ready to print out. It's an hour away, but they said they won't treat her any more without insurance as we were checking her out of the old hospital, and her GI doc recommended this other place.
but they said they won't treat her any more without insurance as we were checking her out of the old hospital
That sucks. I'm sorry.

This kind of thing fills me with white-hot rage. Grrr.
Meara, have you no migraine meds? Lie down, keep cool, try caffeine, and if it is indeed hot out, also electrolytes.
It's official, P and her DH have a brand-new daughter. She's not named yet and P is already sleep deprived. So pretty much standard for new parents.
BABY!

The hell? Is that even legal?
I have jury duty at the end of the month. I have already deferred it once.
My lawyer friends tell me that July and August are the best months for jury duty -- there are so many lawyers and judges on vacation then that there are many fewer cases to put potential jurors on.
The hell? Is that even legal?
Actually, yes. Which makes me so furious.
Sean and S, hugs and thoughts and vibes and all that.
Suzi, I hope your mom finishes these yicky tests soon and can get the transplant. What a mess.
Yay, baby! Good news is nice.
The hell? Is that even legal?
I guess if we take her to the ER, they have to treat her, or at least give her emergent care. I think her GI doc (who is a genuinely nice and caring man, with excellent bedside manner, and good at what he does) was just trying to head the issue off at the pass.
The hospital he recommended is a county hospital, and they definitely have to provide care. He was recommending that one because they have good GI docs, and because it's not the downtown LA county hospital which, while closer, has an ER which is constantly overloaded with the gunshots, stabbings and ODs typical of all big-city core county hospitals.
