Spike's Bitches 31: We're Motivated Go-getters.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.
Ellie is currently somewhere around 18 lbs, 8 oz. They weighed her on Wednesday, but with her clothes on. So far, no one has said anything to me about her weight. She's not short, but she is very thin. I try to give her stuff with lots of fat in it, but it doens't seem to stick to her. ION, Ellie fell in the pool today. THankfully Joe was right there. I didn't even see it.
Bev, I'm glad to hear StE is doing better. You are all still in my thoughts!
eek, Stephanie! I'm glad she's ok. This is the pool in your yard, right?
Just got a new room... the one we were in last night had an incessant humming noise. Also, ate Thai food. here's hoping the spicy soup does its magic.
Glad that S is home. Stay healthy S!
I have even more respect for parents tonight.
I have J's girls over for a sleepover. It is damn hard work. They keep fighting and can't agree on anything, including a movie. E, who is 11, wanted to get Hannibal. Um...over my dead body. I don't care if you think your mom would let you watch it, you ain't watching that and getting nightmares on my clock! We finally agreed on Last Holiday. Then they fought over who gets to sleep on the air mattress (their mom was supposed to bring another air mattress, but must have forgotten). Oh, and they eat like they've never seen food! It's craziness, and I'm exhausted.
Yeah, borrowing other people's kids is always... interesting, isn't it, vw?
Between all the talk of kids here today and interacting with my coworker's twin boys at a picnic today (they're good kids, but.... you know, 6), I've determined that I'm scared out of my mind at the possibility of being a mom. I don't know how people do it.
Since I'm probably not going to get married, though, I guess I don't need to worry about it.

1. we had to try at least one bite of everything;
When my brother was young, before I was born, the family went to visit my grandparents. My grandmother served Swedish potato sausage, which is teh yum. My brother, who was 7 or 8 at the time, insisted that he hated potato sausage. It was the most vile thing, and he could not be put upon to try it. My grandmother insisted that he try it, which was always the rule at home. Later on in the dinner, my brother asked for seconds. My grandmother responded that she thought he hated potato sausage, to which my brother replied that he always hated anything he hadn't tried before.
Potato sausage is my brother's favorite dish. They served it at both of his wedding receptions.
Much punctuation, ~ma, thoughts and prayers to all those who need it, especially Beverly and StE, Sean and S, and JZ and Halloweenie.
I don't know how people do it.
You roll with it, like anything else. It's more tiring than actually difficult, I'm finding.
But, of course, I'm about 12 years away from the actual hard part.
Cindy, you're probably right about that series of daycare colds wiping out some of her weight. She's been eating pretty well this week, now that she's decided bananas are not tools of Satan.
I tried the snacking on her snacks thing. Now she just tries to feed me all the time.
Stephanie, eek! That's scary.
Bev, I get the need for black humor. I'm sorry there are people who don't, drat it.
Sean, may S recover fully soon.
Err, I'm missing ~ma somewhere. Hmm.
We went to Snoqualmie Falls today. Nice steep one mile hike down and up. Pretty, but totally crawling with The Humans. Now I am taking a break before FINALLY finishing up writing this effing story and sending it to SA.

EEK! Mal's been attempting to drown himself by putting his face in the water. I can't decide if he's trying to get a drink or really wants to look underwater. Either way, less scary than falling into the pool.
We're having a total meltdown freakout day, so I guess another achievement or two is on the horizon. Starting at about 1:30 am, Mal's thrown a tizzy fit every couple of hours when his frustration levels peak.

So glad she's safe. Hopefully your heart has climbed down out of your mouth by now.

I chalk this up to being a member of the M*A*S*H generation. Dark humor finally made it mainstream! Suicide is Painless as a theme song sealed it.
One way to tempt kids to eat, sometimes, is to eat (like have a snack yourself), in their presence, and don't offer them any. They'll come over and beg, and you can "reluctantly" share.
BWAH! Owen's like those seagulls in Finding Nemo: "Mine...mine." Since both my kids are smack in the middle of the growth charts, happy and healthy, I vow to not obsess about their weight as much as my own. At least until they hit puberty.
The one thing I did think to do though is get some organic rice cake snacks and call them "chips." He says, "CHIPS!" and I give him a rice cake. This is probably only good until he learns to read or goes to school where some other kid will tell him the truth about chips.

Scary. I'm glad Joe was there.

My friend Robin swore the SAME thing. Really. She finally gave up, bought her own house and got two cats. Two months later, she met her current husband at a house party. Now they have two kids. Never say never.

{{{Raq & Mal}}} Those are so hard.
I bought my laptop this afternoon. I found exactly what I wanted and a place that offered 24 months with no interest. This is exactly what I needed. Of course it's still sitting in the box waiting for me to get it set up. I even got the wireless router so I will be WATCHING AND POSTING every show I love now.
