Ugh. Class I was REALLY looking forward to this fall has been canceled. Now I'm trying to figure out something else that will fit into my schedule, and it's not pretty. I've got two choices, basically: an entire class on Virginia Wolf or Language and Literacy. Here's the blurb about L&L:

A study of the theories of literacy, in its relation to human thinking and to social uses and contexts; and of the practice ofliteracy, in the teaching, learning, and use of literate behaviors in contemporary American society. The course links the active investigation of literacy issues with related readings, and draws implications for the teaching of reading and writing and for the study of literature.

I guess it could be interesting. Gonna have to call the English office and find out which requirements it fulfills.

Blech.

Because books.

Oh, I would totally go for the Virginia Woolf class, vw. I mean, *I* would, but if she doesn't do it for you, it could certainly be boring.

great, now Tom's upset about me about being mad at the mechanics, and is blaming himself for sucking, so somehow now he thinks I'm mad at him.

GOD, I hate cars and mechanics.

The problem with the VW class (ha!) is that only fulfills and upper level requirement. I don't really need any more of those. I need some specifics.

Blech again.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

This sounds like it could be very interesting, but I like Virginia Woolf too. What class was cancelled?

"It didn't taste good. It tasted soooo horrible. It tasted like....a vodka martini." - Matilda

Please do not take the Virginia Woolf class. I don't think it wise for anyone to read a lot of Virginia Woolf in a short period of time.

I don't think it wise for anyone to read a lot of Virginia Woolf in a short period of time.

Especially in the winter (low-sunlight) months.

Nora, don't you complete the cycle of mis-directed anger by getting mad at yourself because you think you've made Tom feel sucky. You two need to join hands and recite: "We are good, competent, honest people and we are proud of that. The mechanics are arses they deserve our wrath."

HAPPIEST OF BIRTHDAYS, AIMEE!

Ok. Sounds like VW should be out. I'll do the other one.

Ann, that's a ferret.

Not the wrong decision, vw. Based on my limited knowledge and reading of Woolf, and my knowledge of your situation, I'm with Sparky.
