Compassionately intolerant

beth, thanks for the tip...and good thoughts on this settling down.

I am going to get the thyroid checked. Several of the interbunny resources I scoured while murmering under my breath "NOT the bigM, NOT the bigM, please, NOT the bigM", today suggested doing so.

I did, however, have a 'cbc' done when finally getting the mono diagnosed this spring. Does that include thyroid?

Trust me, Beej, the bigM doesn't just happen overnight. I've been in periM for close to 10 years now. Yes, vaginal dryness will happen, buy stock in KY, what can I say, it works. Chances are it's not the thyroid. You will have changes to your period: extra heavy, extra light, here today, gone tomorrow, if it can, it will. You'll feel like you're going through puberty all over again, but in reverse. My doctor doesn't do hormone replacement therapy, but she did put me on antidepressants to help with the mood swings. If anything, it's helped a lot in being able to maintain perspective on all the crap I'm going through with it. I'll be glad when I'm out the other side.

You were a wrong baby who grew up wrong. The wrong kind of wrong. It's better you hear it from a friend.

Hee. Geek motivational posters. Good place to start: [link]

Our wings are not tired.

I've been on the other side of the BigM for almost 5 years now. Mostly it is a lovely thing. It was a bit of a hormone roller coaster there for a while. Had the boys at 38 & 40. Nursed for a couple years. Periods were odd for a couple years then stopped when I was 47.

The doctor that I was going to at the time liked HRT, but I discovered quickly that this made me as insane as BCPs and quit quickly. I had minimal issues with stuff like hot flashes. I take herbal products that seem to take care of that.

I love not having a period anymore. That part is nice. I do have to work a little harder at solving some of the other issues though. In TMI land, thankfully I haven't had any issue with dryness, and no pain, but sadly my interest has diminished big time. This must be solved because I know it isn't right and I'm not willing to let it stay this way for the rest of my life. Also, trust me on this, one can't research this on the internet. I just have to get back to my doctor again. She seems willing to work with me to find a solution. Ugh. Stupid hormones.

That man was going to shank me. Over an omelette. Two eggs and a slice of government cheese. Is that what my life is worth?

Nope. Be sure to have TSH, T3 and T4 checked for thyroid. If you're getting bloodwork done, you might want to test for FSH, too.

Oh my god. It is below 80 in my place for the first time in many days.

Guess who is going to sleep while it is still dark out? I might even wear clothes! Okay, it is 79 in here, maybe not. But still? Sleeping during the dark bits. Whoo hoo!
