A second hand copy of Stonewall: 25 - a book of Essays by LGB activists/writers. Purchased for 10p from my grandmother's nursing home. I picked it up because it was a Mysterious Book, covered entirely with holographic stickyback wrapping paper. Whether this was to hide the dirty badwrong LGBness, or to keep the cover clean and tidy, I really don't know. But - 10p!

In other news, I'm really hoping this cake I just made is OK. I made two 9" yellow cake rounds, put the first one down, pricked it, poured in some triple sec, covered it in sliced strawberries, put on whipped cream, put on the second layer, and covered the whole thing in whipped cream (whipped with a little powdered sugar and some more triple sec...and some pink food coloring just for fun). It's for a friend's surprise birthday party tonight...

I have to admit I'm boggling at the current LJ meme about sex -- have you slept with a teacher, have you slept with someone 10 years older/younger than you, etc.

The question that has me agog is how many people answered yes to the "Have you had sex with someone within an hour of meeting them?" question. I know I'm way more to the prickly and standoffish end of the spectrum, but -- so, 61 minutes (ish) previously you had no idea this other person even existed, and now you're having sex?!?

I'm no prude, trust me, but I guess it's just that my extremely large personal bubble is not just physical, but psychological, too. Because I won't lend money to someone who I didn't know existed an hour ago, much less fuck them.
