if Emily let him in (I thought he let himself in) yesterday, yeah, what he did still doesn't respect all your rights, but it's helping you guys, if he's putting in a screen (or whatever he was doing).
Yeah, I did let him in. Based on past experience, however, if I hadn't let him in he would most likely have come in anyway. So no, he didn't intrude (although, I gotta say, I was in no way ready to have anyone in my room, and it was not at all convenient to move ALL MY FURNITURE so he could get to the window with no notice at all) but they have in the past let themselves in when no one was here. So if I hadn't been awake... well, it wouldn't have been a very pleasant way to wake up.
What he was doing, by the way, was replacing the rice-paper shutter because it's faded and a bit torn. But since it's been that way at least for the four years I've been here, it wasn't particularly for our benefit.
Anyway, I'm equally reluctant to stir things up, but the problem with the "I'd really prefer the 24 hours we're allowed, but try to be generous in that regard when I can" conversation is that that's what vw said both on the phone and in a letter she sent a month ago when they started showing the place to renters. They've already had written notice that this is what we want and they're not doing it.
So, we'll see what happens.
