Yay for Jen!
Yay for Empress!
Yay for belatedbirthday askye!
Yay for hat-buying!
Meanwhile, in the world of me, yesterday was most entertaining. We went to Khan a Khaleili (the big souk/bazaar in Cairo) to pick up a few things before 2 of my friends leave in a couple of days' time - some silver earings, an Isis painting on papyrus, some fig preserves, an alabaster candle holder, that kind of thing. I didn't want to buy anything (...er, although I ended up with a silver ring of a traditional Siwan design and a rather lovely greenish amber ring, both quite large) but I did want to take photos of the Khan, as I've never got around to doing that.
I took lots of nice pictures, so yay for that. And it was a MOST image-demon-slaying day, because I got huge amounts of attention from the guys in the Khan, above and beyond the call of duty, to the point that my friends were taking the piss (good humouredly) about all the 'My Queen!' 'My Princess!' stuff. This was, I think, because the ensemble, whilst modest and simple (ankle length big black skirt, black v-neck tshirty thing under a longish black diaphanous poncho thing, Valencia-purchased hat, turquoise ankle socks with black shoes, turquoise liquid eyeliner layered with regular liquid eyeliner, record bag (which has turquoise labels), was quite strikingly different from the more revealing ensembles being sported by most of the tourists. Also, it is a Very Nice Hat. All the Egyptian ladies clearly loved the ensemble and wanted such a hat. One tourist took my photograph, which was rather startling.
In conclusion: let's make out.
(which I feel is a sentence which should end all posts, always. Good Job, P-C!)
