Roslindale is a nice up and coming 'hood, I hear.
Oh, good. That's good to hear, 'cause my dad freaked me out last night by telling me that it's a terrible/dangerous neighborhood.
[NAFDA] Spike-centric discussion. Lusty, lewd (only occasionally crude), risque (and frisque), bawdy (Oh, lawdy!), flirty ('cuz we're purty), raunchy talk inside. Caveat lector.

Then, of course, this morning he said that he felt he had maybe been selfishly unfair of me.
Thanks, Dad.
Seriously? Wow. It's totally standard here. In that case, that would be a nice feature.
Don't worry about passing on this one - just take it as a sign that there are good places out there.
I also think Im a little endeared to the Roslindale apartment, because it has a built-in ironing board. It also has a built-in china cabinet, but the ironing board in the kitchen is just too cute.
I'd put it at the level of JP or Somerville 10 years ago. I'd go walk around, see what kind of vibes you get. But there's a substantial, stable, diverse community there. I know people from past jobs and stuff who live there and love it.

Yeah. That's pretty much what the landlord said.
people can actually afford to live there, so it's not quite so yuppified, and you get more people from various economic backgrounds, which I consider a positive attribute, not a negative attribute. I don't think it's particularly crime-ridden, though... although I could be wrong.
man, I forgot that it's near the Arboretum and ponds and state reservations! Roslindale rocks.
which I consider a positive attribute,
I do too. Hell, I've lived in Central Square for the last three years! It can't be worse than that!

I KNOW! We drove through the Arboretum yesterday, and it's just so gorgeous. And the area that the apartment is in is like two blocks off the main drag, but on a quiet, tree-lined street. Toto would just love it! Oh, and did I mention it's got a fenced-in back yard he could play in?
Yeah, I was thinking it was funny that your dad would be OK with you living in Central Square and freaking about Roslindale.
