What is even happening?

also think this is part of an old tradition, and it somehow made me sad -- like years ago this might have been the only graduation for a lot of these kids.
Oh, yeah. I never thought of that. Ouch.

What?!? It's my birthday? Imagine that!

Goober.

We didn't do any of that where I grew up -- graduation was after high school, with attendant pomp and circumstance. The kindergarten and fifth grade and eighth grade graduations kind of diminish the big one, in my opinion.

We didn't do it, either. I think I'm of the same opinion as you. Ben's class had to have their "Moving On" ceremony on Monday, even though today is their last day of school (scheduling conflict with the room, or whatever, I don't really get it). The Moving On ceremony wasn't too graduationy, so it was all right. The kids sang four songs. We all watched a great DVD that one set of parents put together, with pictures of the kids we sent to them, from the time they were babies, all they way up through this year. They got a little gift bag, including a yearbook another parent made up, and it was during the regular school day. I think it was just enough to mark the transition, without making it more than it was.

Mostly lurking...

She's at school, but I'll let her know.

I look more rad than Lutheranism

Man, I am FEELING THE LOVE here at work.

Both parents have called me, as has my bro.

On the second phone call, Bitchy!Boss (who is not Big!Boss or Incompetent!Boss) gave me a VERY dirty look. On the third phone call, she actually said "Well, I guess *you* won't be doing any work today."

Bitch.

The ironic part? *Her* birthday is Sunday, so we're celebrating it at lunch today, along with the rest of the June people. I feel like telling her she's not allowed to participate, because it'll take her away from her precious precious work.

Bitch. Sorry that people love ME and not you.

"There are few hours in life more agreeable than the hour dedicated to the ceremony known as afternoon tea."

Finally got information on the baby: Maia Rose, 5lbs 15 oz.

Because books.

Maia Rose is a gorgeous name.

The Moving On ceremony wasn't too graduationy, so it was all right. The kids sang four songs. We all watched a great DVD that one set of parents put together, with pictures of the kids we sent to them, from the time they were babies, all they way up through this year.

Ben's class did something like that in kindergarten, but it was more a performance of patriotic songs, etc., than a "moving on" thing. I don't know why I'm being cranky about it. Possibly because it was at 8 a.m.

Oooooh - now we all need Teppy's work number, so we can keep that phone ringing!!!!

Or Bitchy!Boss's number. "Hello, Teppy's line is busy, and I MUST tell her happy birthday! Can you give her the message, please?"

Sir, it's not an offence to let your cat eat your bacon. Okay? And we don't arrest cats, I'm very sorry.

Or Bitchy!Boss's number. "Hello, Teppy's line is busy, and I MUST tell her happy birthday! Can you give her the message, please?"

But that might get Teppy in trouble. I think we should just call Bitchy!Boss and sing her random showtunes....

Now tagless for your comfort.

Sorry that people love ME and not you.

I'm not sorry.

Maia Rose

Beautiful name!

We had elementary achievement awards but nothing like a graduation. And certainly no kindergarten graduation. We then went to a middle school for 7-8 grades (no graduation, either), then to a freshman high for 9th grade (still no graduation) and then, finally to high school.

Call her to wish her a happy birthday, and then *I'll* glare at her, and snark about how *she's* not going to get any work done today.
