Not to throw a wrench, but since it seems none of you have been to Lulu, I'll chime in. It's on the expensive side. I've only been there for corporate-paid-for events circa 2001; maybe prices have come down. Also, it's very loud. But the food is good and it's a pretty space. Just wanted to make sure you weren't surprised by either.

Plan what to do, what to wear (you can never go wrong with a corset), and get ready for the next BuffistaCon: Madison, WI from June 20-22 2008! Official website.
Yeah, it is expensive: most of the stuff downtown is. Which is why I picked the Thirsty Bear, since it's relatively reasonable.
Is there somewhere in the Mission that's less spendy on a per-person cost? I don't know the Mission at all, I'm afraid.
I just did a quick Yelp search, and if you like Indian/Pakistani food, Pakwan might be a good bet. But again, I'm probably not even going, and if Lulu sounds good to everyone, that's great!
ETA: Pakwan doesn't have table service.
Um, guys, it's going to cost Juliana money if we cancel lulu's, plus this is all very last minute and it might be hard to find a place.
Well, I didn't realize Juliana had put money down or I wouldn't have suggested changing the place.
Eh, we'll manage. Nobody will go home hungry.
Several places downtown require a credit card and charge a fee for less than 24 hour cancellations. Thirsty Bear even faxed me a contract for Tuesday.
I am sure y'all will have a great time at Lulu. It's really a gorgeous restaurant!
sorry we won't be seeing shrift this time thru.... but we haz a nephew ( college -aged) visiting.Poor thing would be way overwhelmed by buffistas.
I think I counted wrong--it's 10 (11 with Matilda, 12 with Matilda and Javachik).
Minus Matilda and JZ. Matilda has a cold. Sorry to deprive you of her JZness.
I definitely (and sadly) won't be able to attend tonight.
